Quality components: not only cleaned, but also burr- and chip-free
3rd Conference on Deburring and Cleaning February 25 - 26, 2015
Quality feature Part cleanliness is now practically unavoidable in any manufacturing operation. One of the essential prerequisites for achieving defined specifications for technical cleanliness is the burr- and chip-free condition of the parts. Efficient methods for burr- and chip-free, as well as need-based clean, components are demonstrated at the 3rd Specialist Conference on Deburring and Cleaning organized by fairXperts on February 25 and 26, 2015, at K3N in Nuremtingen.
Practically no manufacturing process used in series production allows for the production of parts and components without burr formation. Since these small material formations, sometimes only a few micrometers in size, can impair quality from the perspectives of technical cleanliness, ergonomics, and aesthetics, they must be removed. Manufacturing companies across all industries face new challenges due to more complex component geometries, innovative materials and material combinations, and increasingly higher quality and functionality requirements. To efficiently master these challenges, processes for deburring and cleaning must be adaptable to the task at hand, ensuring high process reliability and cost-effectiveness.
The relevant technologies are presented at the 3rd Specialist Conference on Deburring and Cleaning by fairXperts GmbH & Co. KG on February 25 and 26, 2015, at the K3N Culture and Conference Center in Nuremtingen. In line with the motto "What does not need to be removed causes no costs," a model for burr prediction and minimization for practical application will be introduced on the first day. It is based on a forming-technical approach to burr formation, incorporating relationships from materials science and engineering considerations of cutting forming processes. Also discussed are tools for highly automated deburring. This presentation deals with the fundamental principles of currently available deburring tools for highly automated processes. Additionally, application cases from automotive manufacturing are presented. The main focus is on deburring intersecting holes, slots, and drilled holes and exits. Further talks at the conference will inform about the possibilities and limitations of various deburring methods such as thermal deburring (TEM) and flow grinding. The deburring of penetrating oil boreholes using Cross Bore Deburring (CBD) is also introduced.
The second day focuses entirely on part cleanliness. Among other topics, a process for CO2 snow blasting cleaning, capable of removing fine burrs, will be presented. Additionally, a presentation on the application possibilities of laser beam cleaning for different components is scheduled. The control and documentation of achieved technical cleanliness and the prevention of recontamination are now just as important as the cleaning process itself. These areas are also addressed in the agenda. The focus is on testing methods for technical cleanliness that enable reproducible and reliable results. The application fields and limitations of various particle measurement and analysis methods will be discussed in another presentation.
This comprehensive program makes the 3rd Specialist Conference on Deburring and Cleaning relevant for specialists and managers from production planning, manufacturing, development and design, process engineering, and quality management.
Alongside the conference, an accompanying exhibition will showcase solutions and new developments for deburring and cleaning.
