Purity Technology Award - What is your innovation?
Apply now with your new development for the clean, pure, or ultra-pure manufacturing environment! Purity engineering production is considered a key technology that drives important innovations across industries. The production of microchips, flat screens, implants,
pharmaceutical active ingredients, or micro- and nanoproducts would be unthinkable without clean, pure, or ultra-pure manufacturing environments. Outstanding ideas in purity technology not only enable completely new products but also increase the efficiency of production processes.
The Fraunhofer IPA also aims to recognize groundbreaking developments in the industry this year through the announcement of the Fraunhofer CLEAN! 2018 Purity Technology Award and warmly invites you to present your new applications and technologies.
The three top-rated contributions by an independent expert jury will be presented and awarded by the winners at a professional event.
The Fraunhofer CLEAN! Purity Technology Award is an honorary prize and is not associated with a monetary award.
The Fraunhofer CLEAN! 2018 Purity Technology Award will be presented between February 6 and 8, 2018, at the LOUNGES 2018 Cleanroom Process Technology Fair in Karlsruhe. The exact date will be announced later.
Looking Back
Since 2013, the CLEAN! Award has been awarded three times. In 2015, two contributions convinced the CLEAN! jury: an innovative system for particle cleaning and integrated photodynamic disinfection of cleanroom clothing from dastex Cleanroom Equipment GmbH & Co. KG, and a cleanliness measurement device that detects filmic contaminants on component surfaces through vacuum-induced desorption, from VACOM Vacuum Components & Measurement Technology GmbH.
Materials for download are available on our website. Please ensure you do not submit marketing materials, but rather a technically meaningful presentation of your achievement. Clearly and understandably explain the innovation!
Criteria for Award and Evaluation
- Innovation leap: differentiation from the state of the art
- Sustainability: resource and energy efficiency as well as environmental compatibility
- Key technology for new applications (Enabler)
- Industrial feasibility
Jury

Dates
Application period: July 1 to November 17, 2017
Award ceremony: between February 6 and 8, 2018
Exact date to be announced later.
Participation Conditions
One application can be submitted per company. Please send your complete application by the deadline to clean@ipa.fraunhofer.de. It should include the completed applicant data sheet, the specified image or video material as separate files, and 10 to 15 meaningful slides in presentation format (.ppt, .pdf). Incomplete applications or those not meeting the requirements will be excluded from the competition.
By submitting the documents, applicants agree, in the event of nomination as winners by the jury, to participate in the award ceremony. Winners will be informed in advance without specifying their exact placement and commit to presenting their innovation in a 10- to 15-minute presentation.
