PSPF: Strong and soft holds better

Thanks to the soft sealing lip, the new PSPF bellows gripper is unaffected by folds.

Schmalz combines a particularly soft sealing lip with a flexibly designed bellows, thereby conditioning its new bellows gripper PSPF for automated handling, especially for bags prone to creasing.

If bags made of thin film are filled with liquids, they tend to crease. To ensure safe and quick handling despite this, J. Schmalz GmbH combines two materials with very different properties in its new bellows gripper PSPF: The sealing lip is especially soft and adaptable, while the bellows are reinforced. Both components are firmly connected, allowing for optimal sealing while following the dynamics of particularly fast packaging processes. This enables gripping of bags and packages filled with liquids, solids, or powders using delta robots, case packers, and pick-and-place applications — even at low fill levels.

The large shaft diameter allows for a high volume flow, and the 3.5 folds of the bellows easily compensate for height differences. This results in high holding force and, combined with the sealing lip, a secure grip during fast cycles. The new bellows gripper PSPF is made of FDA-compliant silicone and is suitable for contact with food. It is available with diameters of 33, 43, and 53 millimeters.
