The software provider ID GmbH from Erndtebrück in North Rhine-Westphalia has completely revamped its process control and management system Proleis. The software version Proleis 4.0 was first presented to the public at this year's in-house trade fair of its cooperation partner Tebis AG in Martinsried near Munich. Proleis can be integrated with Tebis CAD/CAM software. The result is centralization of manufacturing data through networking of different systems. Visitors could interactively familiarize themselves with the software's capabilities.

With Proleis 4.0, ID GmbH aims to further improve quality as well as cost and resource efficiency in manufacturing. Proleis is a comprehensive organization and planning system with high adaptability and modern software architecture. It is especially designed for single-piece production in tool and mold making and small-series manufacturing. According to the manufacturer, the software equips users with state-of-the-art information and communication technology and prepares them for entry into Industry 4.0.

The Proleis 4.0 user interface features a modern design optimized for touch operation. The system now supports mobile platforms such as tablets and smartphones through the derived web interface. Simple, customizable role- and task-specific apps facilitate operation. Thanks to application and web server technology, Proleis 4.0 is even better suited for connecting distributed locations and external suppliers easily. The status of individual processes is visualized and easily accessible – including live images via webcams, for example, of the milling process.

In Industry 4.0 manufacturing with Tebis and Proleis, "intelligent components" accumulate more and more information throughout the manufacturing process, from order to finished product. Information such as milling strategies, processing times, clamping setups, and required milling tools are brought into the component from Tebis.

Planning knowledge such as the provision of raw materials, purchased parts, machine resources, milling, and assembly schedules is provided by Proleis. Before production begins, all components from the virtual and real worlds are ready in time at the machine and assembly workstation. The integration of Tebis and Proleis results in a highly flexible, fully digitally controlled production with transparent information flow – all hallmarks of Industry 4.0.

At the world premiere of the new Proleis version 4.0 at the Tebis in-house trade fair, visitors had the opportunity to try out the new Proleis functionality themselves: Information terminals distributed throughout the venue provided an electronic guidance system based on Proleis software. Using touchscreens and apps, visitors could learn about the location and content of the information stands, and webcams provided live images of the current events.
