Pro.vention Stuttgart - Companies introduce COVID-19 protective measures in southern Germany in September

In Stuttgart, the second trade fair and conference on infection protection will take place on September 21 and 22, 2021. The organizer, as with the first fair in November 2020 in Erfurt, is Messe Erfurt GmbH.

After months of digital events, pro.vention - Trade Fair and Conference on Infection Protection is to be held as an in-person event on site in Stuttgart. The managing directors of the two trade fair companies agree on this. The companies have a strong interest in being able to present their products to their customers in person again after over 18 months, to maintain existing contacts, and to build new customer relationships, especially in new markets like infection protection. "Because trade fairs are still platforms for company presentations and networking between exhibitors and visitors," notes Michael Kynast, Managing Director of Messe Erfurt GmbH. "The current framework and hygiene conditions enable a smooth execution of the trade fair and conference at the Stuttgart exhibition grounds," is convinced Stefan Lohnert, Managing Director of Messe Stuttgart. From September 21 to 22, 2021, scientists, politicians, and business representatives will discuss effective protective measures against the spread and containment of epidemics and pandemics such as COVID-19 at the Landesmesse Stuttgart.

"I am very pleased that, in cooperation with my colleagues from Messe Erfurt, we will shape an important building block in the fight against COVID-19, on which further concepts can then be built," says Stefan Lohnert. Florian Stegmann, State Minister and Head of the State Chancellery of Baden-Württemberg, will take over the patronage of pro.vention. "Through the very good cooperation with Landesmesse Stuttgart, we will also hold a very successful trade fair and an interesting specialist congress in the state capital of Baden-Württemberg," is certain Michael Kynast. "I am very much looking forward to the premiere of pro.vention in Stuttgart."

Preparations are currently in full swing. These are characterized by discussions about the benefits of mobile and aerosol-filtering ventilation devices in schools. Some federal states reject this. However, the results presented by scientists and manufacturers at the first pro.vention in autumn 2020 in Erfurt were clear. Such mobile ventilation systems, which will also be seen in Stuttgart, can significantly reduce the viral load. Only during breaks would ventilation be necessary. In Baden-Württemberg, there is a very clear decision on this. Classrooms that are poorly or not ventilated at all are to be equipped with mobile air filters by the start of the new school year. This is to contain the spread of the Delta variant of the coronavirus and to prevent renewed school closures in autumn. Other state governments, including Bavaria and Thuringia, will promote the equipment of classrooms.

A few days ago, the Federal Environment Agency (UBA) abandoned its original skepticism towards this solution. Of course, such mobile air filters would help against viruses if they are tested and correctly installed devices, says Heinz-Jörn Moriske, Managing Director of the Indoor Air Hygiene Commission of the UBA, to Handelsblatt. Another solution to make classrooms virus-free lies in centralized and permanently installed ventilation systems. However, these are hardly present in schools, and the investment volume for all 500,000 classrooms in Germany would be difficult or impossible to finance.

Fixed and mobile ventilation systems are just as much a part of the topics at pro.vention Stuttgart as hygiene measures, digitized room monitoring, and online communication tools, which have already experienced a significant upswing during previous Corona waves.
