The Plastics Center in Leipzig (KUZ) will present new intelligent solutions and current research results at Fakuma from October 17-21, 2017, in Friedrichshafen. Explore the broad portfolio of microplastic technologies at the KUZ exhibition booth. From micro-injection molding with part weights ranging from 1 to 10,000 milligrams, through micro-injection molding and micro-extrusion, to micro-structuring, the MiKA (Application Center for Microplastic Technologies at KUZ) offers the highest precision for small dimensions.

Tempering directly at the tool wall

A current research project at KUZ pursues the approach of heating the contact surface of the tool wall directly with specially developed thin-layer heating elements designed for use in injection molding tools, thereby achieving high-quality contour replication during the injection molding process. Another goal is to positively influence the morphology of thin-walled micro-injection molded parts to improve mechanical properties without extending cycle times, using a variotherm process control.

In addition to innovations in microtechnology, KUZ will also showcase innovations from the macro range at Fakuma. New design possibilities for molded parts with customized high-quality surfaces will be presented. By integrating foil insert molding into the process of combining thermoplastic and reaction injection molding, these can be produced cost-effectively and quickly. Visitors can also learn about the latest developments in ultra-light thermoplastic foam injection molding at the exhibition booth.

Furthermore, KUZ will present the range of services of its accredited testing laboratory as well as a broad portfolio of practice-oriented seminars in the fields of injection molding, PUR processing, welding, and microtechnology. The topic of further education will be highlighted in the exhibitor forum at Fakuma on Wednesday, October 18, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. with the lecture "Securing skilled labor through targeted further training – best practice" by KUZ.
