Plastics meet medical technology in Leipzig

The conference "Plastics Meet Medical Technology" will take place from January 31 to February 1, 2018, in Leipzig. Participants can expect an exciting conference program with accompanying trade exhibition. Companies from the plastics industry – processors, toolmakers, material and machinery manufacturers – as well as producers, suppliers, and service providers for medical devices will be offered technical input and opportunities for exchange, including as exhibitors.

17 exciting technical presentations

The main topics include: an overview of German medical technology, challenges for plastic processors and practical experiences, plastic solutions for biomedical research, special materials such as high-performance plastics, silicones, polyurethanes, and specific requirements for the manufacturing process.

Excursions to innovative companies

The following visits, integrated into the event, are offered:

- Application Center for Microplastic Technologies (MiKA) at the Plastics Center in Leipzig,
- Biotechnological-Biomedical Center (BBZ),
- ICCAS Innovation Center for Computer-Assisted Surgery at the University of Leipzig,
- Vita 34 AG.

Interactive project workshop

During the conference, the plastics processing and medical technology industries will meet, discuss, and define potential and challenges at the interface of both worlds. In the moderated project workshop, companies will be provided with a platform for exchange and the initiation of possible collaborations.

Informative trade exhibition

Alongside the lecture sessions, companies have the opportunity to present themselves in the exhibition areas in the conference room and the foyer. The exhibition is open throughout the entire conference period. More than twenty exhibitors have so far taken advantage of the opportunity; a few exhibition spaces are still available.

The organizer of the "Plastics Meet Medical Technology" conference is the Plastics Center in Leipzig (KUZ) with partners the Biotechnological-Biomedical Center (BBZ) at the University of Leipzig and the Cluster for Biotechnology & Medical Technology in Saxony (biosaxony e.V.).
