Pharmacy in modular construction for the production of cytostatics and sterile products

The Caritas Hospital Bad Mergentheim is expanding its existing building complex with a logistics center including a hospital pharmacy. On November 24, 2020, the modular construction specialist Cadolto received the order from the Nuremberg-based company OTTO Life Science Engineering GmbH to build a modular pharmacy, which is scheduled to be handed over as a turnkey project in early summer 2021.

The two-story new building, which will be connected to the newly planned logistics building via a connecting structure at Uhlandstraße 7, will consist of a total of eight modules. The building, with a gross floor area of 370 m², includes laboratories as well as all necessary auxiliary areas and a complete technical center. In the future, the new pharmacy will produce cytostatics for cancer treatment, preterm infant nutrition, and sterilized products for direct use in the Caritas Hospital.

Speed, quality, and experience: These are the factors that play a decisive role for the Caritas Hospital and were key reasons for the client OTTO Life Science Engineering GmbH to award the contract. Particularly important was the short construction period in which the new pharmacy is to be realized.
