The new stainless steel cylinders of the CG5-X2977 series from SMC are specially designed for use in humid or aggressive environments. All external parts are made of stainless steel and are resistant to attacks from acids, alkalis, and aggressive cleaning agents. The stainless steel housing of the cylinders is round and executed in a clean design, which is evident in the hygienic damping adjustment screw, the flattened connection area for mounting fittings with straight threads, and the fact that instead of a label, a laser marking on the surface serves as the product designation. With no edges or corners, the cylinder is quick and easy to clean. Dirt or germs have no chance. Thanks to the short cleaning time, users benefit from high system availability.

The cylinders of the CG5-X2977 series feature a blue special scraper according to FDA and EU 1935/2004. It prevents water from entering the housing and meets the requirements of American and European food laws. Therefore, the new stainless steel cylinders are perfectly suited for use in wet areas of the food and beverage industry as well as in large parts of the chemical and pharmaceutical industries.

The right solution for every purpose

The range of the new stainless steel cylinders of the CG5-X2977 series includes 8 variants with piston diameters ranging from 20 to 100 mm. The two smaller variants with 20 and 25 mm piston diameters provide strokes up to 300 mm. From 32 mm piston diameter onwards, strokes up to 600 mm are possible. The maximum operating pressure is 1 MPa. Compressed air is used as the medium. End position damping can be achieved with purely elastic damping discs. For all those who require higher demands on damping, SMC additionally offers pneumatic end position damping for this stainless steel cylinder series.
