Poelmann KAPSTO® has expanded its extensive range of innovative and economical protection solutions: Using the thermoforming process, which is already used across divisions, it is now possible not only to produce protective caps and plugs for standard series GPN 400, 401, 480, and 481 for round component openings, but also thermoformed trays as protective and carrier systems for the entire component. This provides users with efficient packaging concepts as a complete solution – for optimal handling and maximum protection of sensitive components during transport, storage, and production.

New thermoformed trays for protecting sensitive components

Poelmann KAPSTO® manufactures thermoformed trays for reusable or single-use applications within the shortest possible time. The workpiece carriers, with a maximum film thickness of up to 1.8 mm, can be realized up to a size of 585 x 385 mm, making them suitable for all cartons or standardized transport containers (KLT) with maximum external dimensions of 600 x 400 mm. Thanks to in-house film production, optionally with ESD protection for sensitive electronic components, a wide variety of materials and colors is possible. The trays can be made from PS and PET materials, depending on customer requirements, either from recycled or new film. The color variants include a broad spectrum – from classic colors like black or transparent to signal yellow and recycling blue, as well as custom customer colors. For fully automated order retrieval, Poelmann KAPSTO® offers EDI data exchange. In some applications, the trays can also be used in combination with protective elements from the standard program.

To make the development phase as efficient as possible, the specialist for protective solutions relies on rapid prototyping: printed trays are produced in-house using proprietary printers for quick sample creation. This includes, among other things, the consistent use of recycled raw materials and an optional in-house recycling of customer-returned trays and protective caps.
