Operations continue as usual

Last Thursday, a local fire with heavy smoke development occurred in the building of the Test and Service Center (TDZ) on the premises of LPW Reinigungssysteme GmbH in Riederich. The cause was probably a technical defect in a water treatment system. Fortunately, no one was injured. The extent of the property damage is still under investigation. Cleanup and repair work by specialized companies are already in full swing. Business operations continue as usual.

On the morning of January 12, 2023, an LPW employee noticed heavy smoke development in the water treatment area of the TDZ. He immediately alerted the fire department, which, together with emergency services, arrived on site within a few minutes and was able to extinguish the fire quickly. At the time of the fire, no persons were present in the affected part of the building.

LPW Managing Director Gerhard Koblenzer: "We are glad that no one was injured and grateful for the quick response of the colleague as well as the rapid arrival of emergency services. Of course, such an incident temporarily impacts operations within the company. However, due to our flexible organizational structure, we are well prepared for such events and are currently relying on our existing contingency plans."

In plain language: The business activities of LPW – including production, service, sales, research & development, etc. – will continue without restriction. Only the contract cleaning sector is temporarily affected and has been relocated immediately to other locations on the LPW company premises as well as externally. Furthermore, all technical systems are currently being checked for possible impairments.

The testing activities as well as contract cleaning can already partly resume this week. Gerhard Koblenzer: "For this, we have our partner SGA in Geisingen by our side, whom we supported in 2020 in establishing a cleanroom service center comparable to the TDZ." Various activities of the TDZ will continue there for the time being, carried out by the LPW team. In addition to an LPW final cleaning system and the associated ultrapure water media supply, SGA can provide the necessary cleanroom and logistics spaces.
