Oechsler significantly expands worldwide production capacities for medical devices

The OECHSLER AG ("OECHSLER"), a leading plastics engineering group with a global presence and headquarters in Ansbach/Middle Franconia, is significantly expanding its worldwide production capacities for medical devices: Over the next two years, the Franconian plastics specialist will invest a mid-single-digit million amount in the global expansion of the new cleanroom spaces according to DIN ISO 7 and 8 or GMP Class C & D. At the main site in Ansbach alone, OECHSLER is increasing its cleanroom capacities by 50 percent by spring next year – some of which will be in cleanroom class 7. Additional cleanroom capacities at the sites in Mexico and Romania will be added in the coming years.

This marks the start of a comprehensive growth offensive by the Franconian company, aiming to expand its customer and product portfolio in view of the increasing demand in the medical technology sector. By 2028, the Franconian technology company aims to surpass the sales threshold of 100 million euros in the medical device business. The company sees significant growth potential especially in the product categories of Drug Delivery Systems and Diagnostics.

Full-service provider with high industrialization competence and innovation strength

A key element of the growth strategy is partnerships. Since mid-year, the plastics specialist has been working with new customers. OECHSLER accompanies its clients throughout the entire product development process, from concept development to successful market launch and series production. One of the new clients is the Munich-based medtech startup Pulmotree. Together, the partners are developing a new generation of smart, portable inhalers. OECHSLER supports the series production-ready design of this modern medical device.

OECHSLER has extensive experience in manufacturing medical technology products. For over 30 years, the company has been producing inhalers, blood glucose meters, pipettes, and catheters for numerous well-known pharmaceutical companies worldwide. Critical to this long-term success are particularly the high standards of quality and precision, as well as the company's international presence. Over the past decades, the plastics technology specialist has systematically internationalized its production network and now has locations in China, Vietnam, Germany, Romania, and Mexico. Another important success factor is OECHSLER’s broad technology portfolio, which ranges from plastic, metal, and ceramic injection molding to additive manufacturing and the creation of complex assemblies from plastics and electronic components.

Global demand for medical devices is rising significantly

The healthcare market, which exceeds one trillion euros worldwide, is expected to experience significant growth in the coming years. The trend is toward home treatment, with people wanting to carry out medically necessary treatments as individually and independently as possible. Market research institutes forecast an average annual growth of 7 percent in the inhaler category alone by 2030. For blood glucose meters, the expected annual increase is even 11 percent. Worldwide, around 500 million people already suffer from diabetes, with the trend rising.
