Nora Systems sees itself as a partner for every customer request. Very often, the floor coverings are precisely tailored to their requirements: special material properties, inlaid intarsia, or unusual special colors – in Weinheim, almost all wishes are fulfilled, and more than two-thirds of all orders are custom-made.

The company's history began in 1938 with the production of rubber shoe soles. A groundbreaking footprint was established. Today, 75 years later, nora systems is among the leading developers and providers of high-quality rubber flooring and shoe components. Worldwide, the products enjoy an excellent reputation due to their properties. And another fact often influences the company's success from Weinheim: Nora systems always has the right solution ready – for smaller projects as well as for industrial operations covering several thousand square meters. This allows the flooring to be installed in two different formats as needed: on the one hand, as noraplan rolls up to 15 meters long, and on the other, as square-meter-sized norament tiles. Either way: all products are installed without joints and glued down, are uncoated, extremely wear-resistant, slip-resistant, foot-warm, permanently elastic, and easy to clean. In addition to functional properties, the design aspect plays an important role. The portfolio "Made in Weinheim" also impresses in this regard.

Customer-specific implementations and individual designs

An international design example is the Pirelli Tower, one of Milan's most iconic landmarks and formerly the headquarters of the Italian tire manufacturer of the same name. After an airplane crash in 2002, the 30-story building was extensively renovated. The challenge for the specialists from Weinheim: to reconstruct the flooring in the original yellow shade of Milanese designer and architect Gio Ponti in the skyscraper built in 1958, based on old photos. This was perfectly achieved with the reproduction of noraplan vario vivace. In England, Nora Systems can point to another, still influential custom design: When the world-famous architect Sir Norman Foster sought a suitable flooring for an office complex in the mid-1970s, he found it in Germany. The norament studded flooring impressed him – only a bright grass green, with which he wanted to "bring nature indoors," was missing from the color spectrum. The Weinheim rubber specialists quickly developed the desired shade – today, the now-famous Ipswich Green is part of the nora color palette. Another architectural highlight is located in Prague. The Technical National Library there is notable not only for its specialized books. Its approximately 5,000 square meters of flooring are also highly distinctive. With noraplan uni, a concept was implemented using numerous vibrant, colorful shades. The elaborate inlay work traces the static force lines of the ceiling, as considered in the planning by structural engineers or architects, on the floor.

Studs and granulates, 18 designs and over 300 standard colors

Currently, there are 18 different designs and more than 300 standard colors to choose from, ensuring a wide variety – including innovations. An example is norament serra. The flooring presents a natural appearance with a flat surface structure reminiscent of slate quarried stone. Fine tone-in-tone granulates create a subtly restrained design image. When traveling with Deutsche Bahn or S-Bahn, most people stand on noraplan stone. After all, this classic in granulate design is used wherever floors are exposed to high foot traffic and extreme wear. Granulates also offer another advantage: they not only look lively but also naturally conceal light dirt. In the successful integration of granulates, the Weinheimers were pioneers in the late 1980s. The company also made a significant mark with another product: the timeless classic, the norament studded floor. Its triumph began in the late 1960s. Today, the "small, round stud" has been installed worldwide on about 30 million square meters.

Product innovations provide fresh impulses in the market

Bringing innovations to market that satisfy and advance customers is part of nora systems' self-image. With nora system blue, for example, the world's first environmentally friendly and TÜV-certified flooring system was developed. Both the flooring itself and all installation materials are low-emission. The Weinheim specialists are also very close to their customers when creating new products: Architects from around the world are regularly involved in developing their rubber coverings, most recently with norament satura. The result is a stylish floor covering with neutral architectural colors and chromatic accent colors for countless design variations and diverse room concepts. Additionally, nora systems has developed a new cleaning process: the nora pads are cleaning disks embedded with microscopic diamonds. This allows the floor to be cleaned with water alone, without any chemicals. With all these innovations, the Weinheim specialists have the right solution for every requirement in store.
