New series of replaceable humidity sensor probes
Vaisala, the world’s leading company in environmental and industrial measurements, is launching a new series of interchangeable, intelligent humidity sensors for challenging environmental conditions. These brand-new sensors can be used as standalone digital measurement devices but can also be connected to a Vaisala Indigo host device.
Comfortable, compatible, accurate
The new Vaisala HUMICAP® humidity and temperature sensors HMP4, HMP5, HMP7, HMP8, and the Vaisala temperature sensor TMP1 are part of the Vaisala Indigo product family, which also includes the previously announced GMP250 series and the HPP272. The sensors share some key performance features. The most important is that they are interchangeable, minimizing downtime due to maintenance. This feature, combined with the sensors’ superior accuracy and stability, provides high added value for user companies, enabling them to reduce costs and resource expenditure. Thanks to full interchangeability, they can also be conveniently calibrated or replaced.
All newly introduced sensors also offer demanding features such as a chemical cleaning function and a sensor heater. The HMP7 additionally operates with a heated sensor, enabling accurate measurements even in highly condensing environments.
The HMP sensors are equipped with the new Vaisala HUMICAP® R2 multi-sensor. This guarantees excellent corrosion resistance, especially in environments where acids are used. All new products are also resistant to dust and most chemicals. The smooth housing surfaces of the sensors are easy to clean.
The new Indigo family products are compatible with the free Vaisala Insight PC software, which allows for convenient setup, diagnostics, and on-site calibration. The sensors can also be used without an Indigo host device via the Modbus protocol.
Versatile application possibilities
The new HMP sensors and the new TMP sensor have been developed for use in environments where pressure, temperature, continuously high humidity, or rapid changes in humidity are involved. These applications include drying and testing chambers, combustion air and other humidifiers, as well as meteorological measurements where measurement accuracy and chemical resistance are critical. To meet the requirements of different applications, the new sensor series consists of several models:
– The Vaisala HUMICAP® humidity and temperature sensor HMP4 is designed for high-pressure installations up to 100 bar, such as compressed air systems in maritime and industrial sectors, as well as in breathing air applications.
– The Vaisala HUMICAP® humidity and temperature sensor HMP5 targets high-temperature processes such as ovens, pasta dryers, and industrial drying systems.
– The Vaisala HUMICAP® humidity and temperature sensor HMP7 is designed for high-humidity applications requiring sensor heating, such as drying and testing chambers, combustion air and other humidifiers, and meteorological measurements.
– The Vaisala HUMICAP® humidity and temperature sensor HMP8 is suitable for high-pressure installations up to 40 bar, such as compressed air systems, refrigerated dryers, climate chambers, and other industrial compressed air applications requiring easy sensor mounting and dismounting as well as adjustable installation depth in the pipeline.
– The waterproof Vaisala temperature sensor TMP1 is designed for demanding temperature measurements in industrial applications, e.g., in the pharmaceutical industry and calibration laboratories, where accuracy and robustness are essential.
