New SCHMIDT® Flow Sensor SS 20.500 for dust-laden media at home
Schmidt Technology presents the new flow sensor SS 20.500 for the first time at ACHEMA in Frankfurt, designed for use in chemical industry processes.
Measuring the flow velocity of dust-laden media often places special demands on the sensor technology.
Dust-insensitive design and as simple as possible cleaning are of central importance when it comes to ensuring accurate and reproducible measurement results.
Unwanted deposits of dust and contaminants on the media-contacting sensor can largely be avoided through aerodynamically optimized flow. For this purpose, the Schmidt® flow sensor SS 20.500 has been developed with a specially designed head, and the patented design has proven very effective. With its extraordinarily large flow angle of 360° axially and 90° radially, the sensor is easy to position in the airflow. It features a wide measurement range from 0.06 to 35 m/s and can be used in many processes such as extraction, monitoring of supply and exhaust air, or drying processes.
To meet explosion protection requirements for gases and dust, the sensor can also be supplied in an ATEX version upon request. Schmidt Technology already offers this version at an extremely favorable price of well under one thousand euros. The optionally available protective cover makes it resistant to aggressive media such as hydrochloric acid, acetone, or sulfuric acid.
A connector simplifies electrical connection and allows for quick device replacement. New is the Auto U/I function: it detects the downstream valve and automatically selects the correct signal variant between current and voltage.
Information about the currently measured flow velocity and the sensor's status can be read directly from four LEDs on the sensor.
Technical Data: Immersion probe with integrated transmitter. Application range: free-flowing and guided air in pipes from 25 to 6000 mm. Media: (dust-laden) air, nitrogen, argon, and other gases.
