New robots for cleanroom protection class ISO 3

Models of the VS series are particularly suitable for sterile work environments in the pharmaceutical, semiconductor, solar, and food industries

DENSO Robotics, a globally leading manufacturer of small robots, has once again expanded the application environment for its new VS series. The models VS 050, 060, 068, and 087 now also meet the strict cleanroom protection class ISO 3, suitable for completely contamination-free environments. The new robot version complements the models recently introduced with protection class ISO 5. They are especially suitable for use in the pharmaceutical and medical industries, but also for semiconductor, electronics, and food manufacturing – in other words, all sectors that require the highest level of sterilization. DENSO Robotics is a pioneer in these segments.

The 6-axis robots of the VS series are the fastest and most compact in their class, with speeds of up to 11,000 mm/s. The new models, with their suitability for cleanroom class ISO 3, also feature specially sealed joints. Additionally, the VS series allows all connections to be made from below. This is a significant advantage, especially when work surfaces are limited and hygiene is paramount.

The robots of the new VS series are highly precise (repeatability of ±0.02mm and ±0.03mm) and can achieve cycle times of up to 0.33 seconds. (Cycle time with a payload of one kilogram: the time it takes for a robot to move a distance of 25 mm x 300 mm x 25 mm back and forth). The maximum payload is up to seven kilograms. Brakes on all axes allow the robots to be mounted on the floor, ceiling, or wall. The robots were awarded the IF Product Design Award in 2011 and are particularly impressive due to their fully integrated wiring up to the sixth axis, enabling connection to devices with Ethernet interfaces such as cameras and servo grippers.
