The RICO Security Technology AG introduces a new overpressure valve called REDisc, which is primarily designed for use in the pharmaceutical sector. The innovative product is mainly used in isolators to ensure pressure equalization in the event of increased overpressure or to prevent the bursting of the isolator or other system components. The solution offers maximum process safety due to its 100% gas tightness. This has been tested through internal examinations over more than one million switching cycles and awarded a performance level of C. A special feature of REDisc compared to other overpressure valves is the connection flanges: RICO offers, in addition to a version with an intermediate flange (EN 1092-1 / PN10 - PN40), also a Tri-Clamp variant compatible with DIN 32676, Series A. During development, this addressed the requirements of isolator manufacturers in the pharmaceutical industry, enabling quick, hygienic, and straightforward installation. "In this industry sector, the flange standard is standardized, and no additional customer-side modifications are necessary. REDisc can be integrated quickly and easily," explains project manager Samir Kryeziu, emphasizing the economic advantages that result from this. This makes the valve stand out from its market competitors. The operation of the overpressure valve is based on a mechanical principle. Under normal operation, the closing body of the overpressure valve remains in a closed and sealed position. When high overpressure occurs, the closing body is moved into an open position by the pressure, allowing it to vent. When the pressure drops again, the valve closes automatically. The solution is suitable for use in all production areas where clean, filtered air and gases flow. The activation pressure is designed for 500 Pa or 1000 Pa and can be flexibly configured according to customer requirements. REDisc is made of stainless steel and anodized aluminum, providing the necessary chemical resistance for applications such as in the pharmaceutical sector. In operation, the overpressure valve impresses with its flexibility, as it can be easily converted between 500 Pa and 1000 Pa. Additionally, it offers the option of vertical or horizontal installation. The flexibility of the overpressure valve makes this new product from RICO a particularly economical and practical solution.
