New online platform for medical technology

The Swiss Medtech Expo 2017 brings together 160 exhibitors and 1,500 experts from the Swiss Medtech industry. To facilitate this exchange even after the trade fair from September 19 to 20, 2017, a new digital platform for medical technology is being created: MedTech.plus. The beta version was first introduced at MT Connect in Nuremberg.

MedTech.plus is the digital meeting point for everyone involved in medical technology. On the online platform, medical technology companies seeking new technologies and solutions connect with suppliers and solution providers. Thus, the concept of the Swiss Medtech Expo is extended into the digital world, creating a novel and permanent networking of the Medtech industry.

Analog and digital complement each other

"To develop innovations, the right people need to meet," explains René Ziswiler, Head of Industrial Fairs at Messe Luzern. Accordingly, the Swiss Medtech Expo becomes an in-person meeting point for two days for personal exchange, and MedTech.plus is the place before and after the trade fair where the right high-quality contacts and partners are facilitated.

This trade fair concept was adopted from Swiss Plastics Expo 2017. As part of this year's plastics trade fair, a sector-specific platform was successfully launched. "We found that this concept effectively facilitates networking among professionals," says René Ziswiler. "For this reason, we want to transfer the concept to medical technology and develop the platform MedTech.plus."

MedTech.plus digitally connects providers and customers

On MedTech.plus, various trend topics are presented. These are areas that, according to experts, will offer significant potential for innovation in medical technology in the future and will sustainably change the industry. For each trend topic, providers showcase their offerings and most innovative solutions in the form of showpieces. These are real application examples they have already implemented in practice. Thus, MedTech.plus is an interesting channel for providers to convincingly demonstrate their expertise and be found and contacted by potential new customers.

The main users of the platform are manufacturers who have specific questions or want to get inspired. They can specify their interests in forward-looking topics on MedTech.plus and receive tailored information and offers.

Overall concept provides orientation

"With the Swiss Medtech Expo and MedTech.plus, we make innovations visible," explains René Ziswiler. Because even at the trade fair, exhibitors demonstrate their expertise through showpieces. René Ziswiler sees this as a clear added value for the innovation capacity of the Medtech industry: "Medtech projects are becoming increasingly complex. With our new concept, we offer guidance and enable simple and efficient networking of the right people."

Beta version available online from June 21, 2017

At the Swiss Medtech Expo booth at MT Connect, the beta version of MedTech.plus was first presented to the professional audience. René Ziswiler explains that the trade fair was used to gather initial feedback on the platform and incorporate it into further development. The platform will be officially launched during the Swiss Medtech Expo on September 19, 2017.

Pioneers support MedTech.plus

MedTech.plus is based on a novel platform concept developed by Expo Digital – a joint venture of Messe Luzern and the ETH spin-off Industry+ by Additively.

The platform is already receiving strong interest in the Medtech industry. Renowned pioneering companies such as BIBUS AG, KKS Ultraschall AG, konplan systemhaus ag, Synetronics Ausstattung AG, and IE GROUP, IE Industrial Engineering Zurich AG support its development.
