New Hygienic DESIGN components from KIPP for regulated production environments
Clean construction begins in the details
When food is openly conveyed, active substances are processed under cleanroom conditions, or chemical media circulate in closed systems, the details determine safety and productivity. Screw caps, handles, transitions. Every edge can become a weak point, every screw connection, every dead space a risk. With its Hygienic-DESIGN line, KIPP addresses exactly these requirements. Currently, the manufacturer of standard and control components has expanded its program with additional components.
In the food industry, high throughput rates meet strict regulatory requirements. Residues in hard-to-reach geometries mean not only additional cleaning effort but also potential quality losses and recall actions. In the pharmaceutical industry, GMP requirements demand reproducible cleaning processes, sterile conditions, and materials that withstand aggressive cleaning and disinfecting media. In packaging and process technology, conveyor belts, filling stations, and transport modules create product-related zones with numerous transitions.
Hygienically optimized systems respond constructively to these challenges. Smooth surfaces, defined radii, and transition-minimized geometries reduce adhesion. Cleaning media can better reach critical areas. This shortens cleaning cycles, reduces the consumption of water, chemicals, and energy, and extends maintenance intervals. At the same time, risks of contamination and quality deviations decrease.
Hinged handles and hexagon bolts in Hygienic DESIGN
Against this background, KIPP is expanding its portfolio of stainless steel standard and control components for hygienically sensitive production environments. The components are designed according to Hygienic-DESIGN principles, mainly made from stainless steel A4 (material 1.4404), and use FDA-compliant materials.
New in the program are stainless steel hinged handles with sealing ring in Hygienic DESIGN (K1962). They are used to open and close covers, doors, drawers, or hoods. Not only their stability and ergonomic shape are important, but also the constructive design with a specially developed sealing ring made of POM. The geometry is designed to minimize dirt and product buildup and allow for continuous contact of cleaning media.
Also new are hexagon bolts made of stainless steel with a low head for sealing and washer discs from the Hygienic-USIT® range (K2131, K2132 as a set). The flatter head shape reduces protrusions and facilitates cleaning of adjacent surfaces. Together with Freudenberg Sealing Technologies' Hygienic-USIT® sealing technology, this creates a clean and safe connection solution. The combination is EHEDG-certified and designed for product-related and product-contact areas with the highest hygiene requirements. Seal materials available include EPDM in white or black, and FLUOROPRENE XP in blue.
KIPP distinguishes between Hygienic DESIGN, which focuses on geometry, surface, and proprietary sealing solutions, and Hygienic USIT® with sealing solutions from Freudenberg. Both approaches aim for the same result: constructive safety in sensitive processes as an intelligently integrated component of the system.
