New headquarters for SKAN & global growth

About 50 years ago, the history of SKAN began. At that time, SKAN was a pure trading company for hospital and laboratory equipment. Over the years, SKAN has developed into a know-how company with a 70% engineering staff, which is now a global market leader in the field of isolator construction, cleanroom equipment, and decontamination processes for the pharmaceutical industry. This year, the company celebrates its 50th anniversary. SKAN now employs over 340 permanent staff in Allschwil alone and another 200 employees in subsidiaries in the USA, Japan, Germany, and Stein. Additionally, SKAN has stakes in Belgium and Italy.

After more than 30 successful years at the current location on the Ziegeli site in Allschwil and due to continuous employee growth, SKAN AG is now planning to build a new, modern company building. The company has deliberately decided to stay in the region with the new location, not only because SKAN feels very connected to the region but also to continue benefiting from the labor market advantages of the tri-border area with its different languages. The new building aims to create and design contemporary and modern workplaces to continue being perceived as an attractive employer in the long term.

The new construction will bring all employees at the site back under one roof. Shorter distances are intended to facilitate teamwork, increase efficiency, and positively impact the company culture. Especially in the new open-plan offices, the company sees an opportunity to promote and optimize communication. Construction began on October 24 with the groundbreaking ceremony. The complex will include an assembly area with a production space of around 5,000 m2. Additionally, the company's own SKAN Academy, a laboratory, and over 420 office workplaces will be accommodated. Moving into the new SKAN headquarters is planned for 2021.
