New explosion protection valve with pharmaceutical cart optimizes the cleaning process

The RICO Safety Technology AG impresses with a new product: The company from Herisau, Switzerland, has recently developed the RSV-P explosion protection slide for applications in the pharmaceutical and food industries. This is resistant to environmental influences such as dust or moisture, is made entirely of stainless steel, and thus exhibits high corrosion resistance. The explosion protection slide can optionally be integrated into a mobile base frame (pharmaceutical cart), with all components meeting the high hygiene standards of the target industry. The key advantage of this pharmaceutical cart is the further optimized cleanability. While the conventional explosion protection slide is always mounted in the pipeline, the mobile version offers the possibility to quickly and easily remove the slide from the pipeline for additional hygiene measures. "We have recently further developed our RSV-P explosion protection slide and managed to reduce its weight by 50 percent. Nevertheless, the weight of the slide — depending on the nominal size — is well over 100 kilograms. A thorough cleaning of the slide, in addition to CIP/WIP cycles, is quite challenging with such heavy components. We address this with the mobile base frame, making temporary dismantling from the pipeline straightforward," explains Aleksandar Agatonovic, Deputy Managing Director of RICO Safety Technology AG. The explosion protection slide remains the fastest on the market even in its mobile version and is used for explosion decoupling to protect interconnected plant parts in the event of an explosion. If an explosion occurs, it is detected by pressure or flame sensors, and one or more gas generators within the slide are ignited by the control unit. The generated pressure triggers the immediate closure of the slide. This effectively prevents the spread of explosions.
