New Epson SCARA Robots

Epson SCARA robots of the H series: Quickly and precisely move up to 8kg payload thanks to QMEMS quartz technology.

Epson today introduces its new SCARA robots of the H series. The innovative series has been designed for demanding automation tasks in the automotive and electronics industries and can handle payloads of up to 8 kg with arm lengths ranging from 350mm to 650mm. The Epson H series has been consistently optimized for speed and precision. The compact housing and lightweight design allow it to be installed even in confined work cells. The innovative Epson Smart-Motion-Control technology, which monitors and optimizes every arm movement using built-in QMEMS sensors, enables users of the Epson H series to choose between very precise or very fast operation.

Special emphasis was placed on avoiding vibrations and overshoot, so that even complex trajectories can be traversed with simple programming. The new SCARAs will be available from September in standard, cleanroom, or ESD versions.

The Epson SCARAs of the H series are divided into two variants. While the particularly compact H4 family, with an arm length of 350mm, requires only 520mm of installation height, the members of the more powerful H8 series require only 580mm. The small dimensions and lightweight design simplify the integration of the robots into work cells and reduce development costs.

The new Epson SCARAs offer up to 50 percent less vibration and up to 20 percent faster cycle times compared to their predecessors, the successful Epson G series, thanks to the motor control optimized by QMEMS technology. Additionally, users benefit from the use of the Epson QMEMS control loop by easily switching between a precision-oriented or speed-oriented operation via software depending on the requirement.
