New cleanroom operation for customers in Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg – ninth location in Europe
In Satteldorf near Crailsheim is the ninth cleanroom location of the bardusch Group, Ettlingen, a textile service provider operating across Europe. In addition to the facilities in Eisenach, Werder, and Mülheim-Kärlich, it is the fourth certified operation in Germany where bardusch processes cleanroom clothing and products using the most modern cleaning and disinfection procedures. bardusch is also represented with cleanroom locations in Poland, Switzerland, Spain, and Hungary.
The operation at the new bardusch site in Satteldorf is up and running: Over 1,800 square meters, not only washing machines, dryers, and packaging machines have been installed, but the premises have also been hermetically sealed from the outside world to ensure the highest hygienic standards when handling highly sensitive textiles and all cleanroom-specific materials, thanks to cleanroom conditions.
Investments in a Future Market
Textile service provider bardusch entered the cleanroom clothing segment over 20 years ago. In 2017, the company's management decided to focus more on the cleanroom business as part of their growth strategy. Satteldorf is now the ninth cleanroom location of the group operating across Europe. Since the start of construction in spring 2023, bardusch has invested four million euros here to serve its customers in northern Baden-Württemberg, characterized by Franconian influences, with approximately 90 employees in the medium term.
"Supplying industry, institutes, and laboratories with germ-free laundry and clothing is a future market that has existed long before the outbreak of the Corona pandemic. Meanwhile, the high hygiene standards go far beyond the healthcare sector and affect almost all parts of society," explains Mathias Göhrig, CEO of bardusch. "Currently, alongside the pharmaceutical industry and food sector, many technical companies are among our clients in the cleanroom sector, for example from electronics, optics, precision mechanics, and biotechnology industries. In addition to hygiene, protecting products from environmental influences is also important in these highly technological companies. Therefore, cleanroom clothing and necessary accessories such as glasses, shoes, socks, or wiping cloths must not release any dirt or fiber particles into the environment."
Highest Standards – Strict Controls
Before the operation in Satteldorf could be launched, high hurdles had to be overcome. Not only were employees specially trained to work under cleanroom conditions. The hygiene concept, systems, and systematic control processes are also subject to strict regulations. Thomas Walz, head of the cleanroom at bardusch, explains: "Our new facility has been inspected and recently certified. Depending on customer requirements and industry, we must meet different standards. For example, in Satteldorf, we comply with European norms for 'Reprocessing under cleanroom conditions,' 'Steam sterilization,' and 'Particle testing on clothing.'
What distinguishes bardusch from many competitors is the fact that the important point of 'particle-free' clothing is regularly checked and confirmed by internal and external experts to provide customers with the highest possible safety. Continuous quality control also ensures that individual garments can be repaired or replaced if necessary. Thomas Walz adds: "This way, our customers always have fully functional clothing available. Additionally, regular training of employees and management contributes to the high product and service quality at bardusch."
Consideration of Sustainability Aspects
In addition to the most modern cleaning technology, the management at bardusch also emphasizes fulfilling all sustainability criteria. All of bardusch's cleanroom laundries have their own systems for heat recovery. "Of course, a photovoltaic system and a heat pump in Satteldorf ensure that we minimize the use of fossil fuels as much as possible. Thanks to our new location, we are also much closer to our customers in the Ellwangen, Heilbronn, Ansbach, and Wörnitz areas. This impacts route planning and enables more efficient logistics," describes Alexander Kremer, site manager of Satteldorf, highlighting further advantages.
Decentralized Structures – Customer-Specific Solutions
Mathias Göhrig explains the bardusch concept: "The company has traditionally relied on regionally anchored operations – on the one hand, to be close to customers geographically, and on the other hand, to respond quickly and flexibly to their needs through customer proximity. The aspect that we work together with customers to find specific, tailor-made solutions is a significant part of our company's success."
The decentralized structures of bardusch have proven particularly effective in recent years – for example, during the COVID-19 pandemic – and, according to Mathias Göhrig, will continue to gain importance in the future: "If a facility goes offline or an emergency arises, we can relatively easily rely on other locations thanks to our decentralized network. Our customers appreciate this security of supply."
