Piepenbrock once again participated in BIM World MUNICH, which took place on November 26 and 27, 2019, at the International Congress Center in Munich. The building service provider showcased its solutions in the field of Smart Services and their integration with Building Information Modeling (BIM) in building operations.

BIM World is the leading event for innovative BIM solutions, IT applications, and IoT technologies. In Munich, national and international companies from the construction and real estate industries gathered to exchange ideas on the digitalization of the sector, as well as new developments and practical use cases of BIM. At its exhibition stand, Piepenbrock informed visitors about digital solutions in building operations, primarily the Smart Services offered by the service provider and their connection with BIM. Piepenbrock uses energy-autonomous sensors and actuators that provide data via a cloud solution of intelligent software. This enables in-depth analysis for further optimization and efficiency improvements of the services. In various application scenarios, sensors can, for example, detect whether proactive maintenance of technical facilities is necessary. Parking management, conference room management, room bookings, building security, or the cleaning of sanitary facilities can also be controlled and carried out based on collected data, tailored to actual needs. This optimizes energy consumption and resource use in both new construction projects and existing properties, thereby reducing costs.

BIM – applied in building operations

As an FM service provider, Piepenbrock aims to optimize the secondary processes of its clients to create synergies for primary processes. Approaches include digitalizing FM processes and utilizing sensors, actuators, and smart software. "At BIM World, we have the opportunity to exchange detailed insights with other experts about the current state and development of the BIM method and data standardization. This way, we gain new insights and discover further potentials. However, there is still room for improvement to accompany all lifecycle phases of a building with smart services and to consistently collect the necessary data," reported Mahmut Tümkaya, Managing Director of Piepenbrock FM Consulting GmbH + Co.
