Networkable laboratory washers with chamber lighting and enhanced user convenience from Miele Professional
Under-counter devices with glass door variant and touch display in two versions / Awarded the iF Design Award 2024
In medical and analytical laboratories, glassware must be cleaned quickly, reliably, and residue-free. To meet this requirement, Miele Professional has developed its new generation of laboratory washers. The 60 and 90 centimeter wide under-counter units are networkable, feature an illuminated wash chamber, and can be operated intuitively via a new touch display. Two systems are available for subsequent drying.
Even before market launch, the design of the devices was awarded the iF Design Award 2024. Contributing to this was, among other things, the standard rinse chamber lighting, which significantly facilitates loading and unloading. The devices are optionally available in white or stainless steel. The top models, with a width of 90 centimeters, are additionally available with a glass door – so the laboratory glass remains visible throughout the entire washing process.
The ExploreLine device PLW 8604 already offers extensive basic equipment including a touch display. Programs can be quickly selected, and the current status is always visible. The ExpertLine devices go even further: their 4.2-inch color display with M Touch Flex control shows program status and process steps clearly visible even from several meters away.
At the same time, the user interface supports laboratory staff with recurring tasks. Graphic hints indicate, for example, which steps are required next. This simplifies handling and helps avoid downtime.
Up to 19 programs are available, including programs for pasteurization or thermal disinfection. Additionally, up to ten free program slots can be set up for individual requirements. The "Extra Short" program works especially quickly: up to 60 laboratory glasses are cleaned in just 25 minutes. For particularly resource-efficient operation, there is also the "Standard Eco" program, which reduces water and energy consumption.
Control functions for safe program operation
A patented, variable-speed circulation pump automatically adjusts the water pressure according to the load. A spray arm and rinse pressure control additionally monitor the program process and detect, for example, blockages caused by large vessels or pipettes. The EasyLoad accessory system with suitable loading carriers ensures safe and quick loading for different types of laboratory glassware.
Two systems for drying
Two variants are available for drying. Devices with active drying dry the wash items directly inside the unit. Alternatively, there are models with an AutoOpen function: after the program ends, the door opens automatically once the temperature in the wash chamber has sufficiently decreased. Residual moisture escapes quickly, and the laboratory glass dries promptly. In most devices, a steam condenser expels the remaining moisture outside.
Networkable and service-friendly design
All new laboratory washers are networkable from the factory. Using the Miele MOVE Connect software, they can be connected to a PC, tablet, or smartphone. Performance data, programs, and consumption values can thus be viewed and documented centrally.
Maintenance and service were also considered during development. Central components are arranged so that Miele service can reach them faster than with the previous generation. Maintenance work can therefore be carried out significantly more quickly. The devices are designed for at least 15,000 operating hours. Spare parts remain available for at least 15 years. This makes the Miele Professional laboratory washers reliable and durable partners in daily laboratory work.
