Multivac showcases packaging solutions from various technologies

At Fruit Logistica, which takes place from February 5 to 7, 2014, in Berlin, Multivac will inform visitors about different packaging and labeling technologies for the fruit and vegetable industry. At its booth, the packaging specialist will showcase various packaging solutions, which have been specifically designed to meet the requirements of small and medium-sized businesses in the fruit and vegetable sector:

• The thermoforming machine R 105 for the production of vacuum and modified atmosphere packaging (MAP)

• The tray sealer T 300 for automatic packaging of fruits and vegetables of all kinds in trays

• The single-chamber machine C 400 for packaging salads, dried fruits, and nuts in bags

• The conveyor belt labeler MR323 for top and optionally bottom labeling of thermoformed packages and trays.

All machine models are extremely user-friendly and offer a very good price-performance ratio. Additionally, they require little space, making them suitable for small rooms. Their high-quality and durable stainless steel construction and the pioneering Multivac Hygienic DesignTM ensure optimal cleanliness. This also positively impacts the safety of the packaging and thus consumer protection.

In designing the entry-level models, the company paid special attention to flexibility. The R 105 is suitable for producing vacuum and modified atmosphere (MAP) packages. With the T 300, fruit and vegetable producers can create a variety of packaging types, such as MAP packages with or without lid film or Skin-Isopack packages. The C 400 can be flexibly adjusted regarding the arrangement of sealing bars and chamber heights. Its chamber lid, equipped with a viewing window, allows a clear view of the packaging process, making operation easier even for untrained personnel.

FreshSAFE Fresh Concept

Furthermore, Multivac will inform visitors about its comprehensive packaging concept, FreshSAFE. A key element of this packaging technology is the product-specific microperforation of the lid film in the packaging machine, which enables optimal exchange of atmosphere and thus the production of EMAP packages (Equilibrium Modified Atmosphere Packaging). Extensive testing in the company's application center helps determine the correct number and size of perforations, serving as an important basis for consulting services. The FreshSAFE technology allows the processing of standard films; this minimizes the need for stockpiling packaging materials by the processor.
