During the traditional press conference at interpack, the managing directors of MULTIVAC, Christian Traumann (CEO) and Dr. Tobias Richter (CSO), looked back on a successful year 2022 despite all uncertainties. Under the motto "Multiply Your Value," the MULTIVAC Group will present innovative processing and packaging solutions as well as digital services at the trade fair, offering customers significant added value: more efficiency, more automation, more digitalization, and more sustainability.

Parent Brand MULTIVAC Group consolidates expertise

At interpack, the MULTIVAC Group is presenting itself for the first time in the new corporate design. This was developed with the aim of bringing together MULTIVAC as well as FRITISCH and TVI, which have been part of the corporate group for several years, under the umbrella brand MULTIVAC Group. "MULTIVAC is a group of individual companies and specialized business units. As a strong and reliable partner, we offer our customers comprehensive consulting expertise across their various industries," explained Dr. Tobias Richter. "Our processing and packaging solutions from a single source ensure high operational and process safety as well as optimal performance. By combining the broad technical and application knowledge of different industries with the MULTIVAC portfolio and engineering know-how, we manage to create tangible added value for our customers—especially with fully integrated production lines. With a unified appearance under one umbrella brand, we now want to emphasize this more strongly than ever before."

Change in management: new leadership team of four

Following the departure of Guido Spix at the end of 2022, three new managing directors from within the company were appointed effective January 1, 2023: Bernd Höpner (CTO), Dr. Christian Lau (COO), and Dr. Tobias Richter (CSO). "As the new CEO and spokesperson for the management, I am very pleased that three experienced colleagues have taken on these responsible roles. This ensures continuity with our customers and business partners as the foundation for the continued successful development of our business," said Christian Traumann.

Continued growth trajectory of MULTIVAC

Despite all economic challenges resulting from the ongoing pandemic and the Ukraine war, the MULTIVAC Group was able to increase its sales in 2022 to around 1.5 billion euros, an increase of 8.7 percent. The number of employees rose to approximately 7,000 worldwide. "We started 2023 with a good order backlog," explained Christian Traumann. "However, against the backdrop of rising energy and raw material prices and inflation, our customers' willingness to invest in Germany and Europe remains cautious. To counteract a tense order intake, we continue to rely on our broad product portfolio with innovative solutions, which is being consistently expanded, and our global sales and service network that ensures close customer proximity. For example, through quick response times, on-site consulting, and support with preventive maintenance, we provide real added value for our customers—and lay the foundation for stable business development."

Multiply Your Value across four exhibition areas

As a comprehensive solutions provider, the MULTIVAC Group will showcase its extensive portfolio for the food industry as well as for the medical device and pharmaceutical industries across a total of four exhibition areas at the trade fair. "Using several fully automated packaging lines, we illustrate our extensive automation expertise. The cross-line control system, MULTIVAC Line Control (MLC), enables efficient, centralized operation of our processing and packaging lines," explained Dr. Tobias Richter. "In addition, we will highlight our broad portfolio of semi-automatic and automatic packaging solutions for small and medium-sized processors at interpack. We will also present various concepts for the production of sustainable packaging solutions as well as solutions for the digitalization of processes and business models. With our digital MULTIVAC Smart Services, we offer a variety of applications that can increase machine availability, performance, quality, and thus efficiency."

Product innovations: SLX 2000, TX 6xx, W 500 & W 510

"Among the product innovations we will showcase at the trade fair are the high-performance slicer SLX 2000, which sets new standards in many respects, and the TX 6 series, a new compact class of TX tray sealers that contributes to performance enhancement in tight spaces thanks to its small footprint. With the W 500 and W 510, we present our new flow packers, which are characterized by maximum productivity, flexibility, and packaging and process safety," said Christian Traumann.

Looking at the themes of digitalization and sustainability, which are focal points at interpack, Christian Traumann summarized: "Digitalization creates potential not only for new business models that increase transparency and process safety. Digitalization is also an enabler for intelligent and sustainable production. Mechanical engineering, with its technologies, can provide answers to the questions of our time, such as sustainability. As a technology leader, MULTIVAC Group wants to shape the future. That is why we are involved in important industry initiatives such as R-Cycle and the Open Industry 4.0 Alliance. The technological openness practiced in these alliances offers great innovation potential, from which, not least, our customers can benefit."
