Move pre-assembled units safely
LK Mechanic manufactures workpiece carriers for heavy components and assemblies
For the safe transport of heavy and valuable components and parts, LK Mechanik has designed a flexible workpiece carrier system made of steel and stainless steel. Based on its standard dimensions similar to European pallets F11/ F76, it is intended as a sustainable reusable solution to optimize material and goods flow in shuttle transports between multiple partners in the value chain. The new system carriers are forklift-compatible and can be folded for storage.
Drive technology aggregates, optoelectronic components, or medical device parts – in industry, there are countless systems and assemblies that must be moved as pre-assembled and semi-finished units through the value chain. Sometimes they already have substantial weights and often feature an open design without protective casing. Above all, they already represent a significant value, so they should ideally not be damaged. With these requirements in mind, LK Mechanik's engineers have developed an intelligent workpiece carrier system tailored for the safe transport of heavy, valuable, and sensitive parts, assemblies, modules, and devices. This system is intended to provide OEMs and system suppliers with a sustainable and resource-efficient workpiece carrier system for internal and external logistics, which can be used long-term and in various ways due to its flexibility, stability, and versatility. "It was also important to us that our new component carriers are compatible with other established load carriers and can be very easily maintained and serviced. Therefore, they are modular and made in the dimensions of European pallets F11 and F76 from galvanized steel or stainless steel," explains Managing Director Matthias Kroll.
Stackable reusable solution
The new system carrier from LK Mechanik is designed as a stackable, forklift-compatible reusable solution for use in production logistics shuttle transports and can be adapted to various product geometries thanks to its clever construction. The key feature here is an exchangeable support surface, which always features product-specific and marked attachment points. Together with the robust static design of the steel system carrier, they enable an extremely precise and secure fixation of pre-assembled, semi-finished, or even finished assemblies. Pockets for accompanying documents and nameplates for electronically readable QR, DMC, and barcode labels are also available. For storage or empty transport, LK Mechanik's workpiece carrier system can be folded into a space-saving, compact format.
New carriers for new structures
The first customers from industry have already expressed interest in LK Mechanik's new component carrier. Because in many places, during the setup and optimization of new production and supply structures in supply chains, such load and workpiece carriers are preferred, whose sustainability is reflected in long service life, reusability, and ease of repair. "Due to its robustness and stability, our new carrier system is also suitable for use in rough, rugged production environments like those found in the post-processing stages of casting and forging operations," says Managing Director Matthias Kroll.
By the way: The new workpiece carrier system from Heuchelheim is standard in dimensions based on the established Euro pallets of types F11 and F76. However, LK Mechanik's flexible manufacturing structures also allow for the realization of special dimensions according to customer requirements.
