Modular Mixed Air-FFU

Savings in energy and investment costs through decentralized mixed-air units for cleanrooms and other hygienic areas.

The construction and operation of cleanrooms incur significant costs. By using innovative, decentralized mixed air systems, up to 60% of investment and operating costs can be saved.

With the devices developed by us, part of the air treatment is shifted from the central ventilation unit to the suspended ceiling area of the room. Therefore, the design of the central components and the entire duct network can be limited to the actual outdoor air requirement. Investment costs and space requirements in the building are drastically reduced. Additionally, the reduced air circulation results in enormous savings in annual energy consumption. The local, usage-adaptive control of the mixed air units allows further savings during operation compared to ventilation systems with central air treatment.

The devices are thanks to their modular design, adaptable to almost any requirement, and can include the following assemblies in their complete configuration:

  • Return air opening
  • Pre-filtration (G3 ... F7)
  • Mixing chamber
  • Backflow prevention (against flow reversal in stationary fans)
  • Cooling coil (2.5 ... 4.5 kW, sensitive)
  • Heating coil (2.0 ... 4.0 kW)
  • Partially redundant fans (2 pcs.)
  • Main filter (F9 ... U15)
  • Swirl outlet

Especially when upgrading the cleanroom class or increasing the thermal loads in the cleanroom, the mixed air units presented here offer an economical solution to increase the performance of a cleanroom without significant modifications to the existing ventilation system. Additionally, the devices can also be used independently of a central air treatment system as recirculation units.

The swirl outlet with a central return air opening creates a rotationally symmetrical room airflow and simplifies the placement of the units within the room. By positioning the devices above heat sources, thermal buoyancy effects can be utilized, and the shortest particle residence times can be achieved.

With the partially redundant fans, integrated backflow prevention, and various other options, a new level of operational reliability is achieved. To support the hygienic operation of the units, the air is cooled completely condensation-free. An antimicrobial powder coating based on silver ions is also available.

Scalable solutions using the Modbus protocol are available for controlling the devices, which can be easily integrated into higher-level systems. Analog control of the devices via 0 - 10V input is also possible.
