Modular conduit from igus meets the highest cleanroom standards

With the e-skin, igus has developed a modular cable conduit that is not only particularly easy to open but also, in contrast to comparable products, offers a self-supporting function for energy guidance in the smallest installation space. Now, the motion plastics specialist has received the strict certification according to IPA ISO Class 1. This provides customers with the highest safety for use in cleanroom environments.

From medical and pharmaceutical technology, semiconductor manufacturing, aerospace technology to nanotechnology and measurement technology – in many industries, absolute air purity is essential, especially in production. Any contamination under cleanroom conditions directly damages products and processes and costs money. The e-skin from igus addresses this by reliably, robustly, and flexibly supplying plants with data, media, and energy, without generating airborne particles through friction that could exceed the strict limits and contaminate the space.

Closed design and abrasion resistance for pure production

The design and material of the e-skin have enabled the acquisition of the IPA ISO Class 1 certificate by the Fraunhofer Institute. The conduit is made from tribologically optimized, abrasion-resistant plastic, and its separable top and bottom shells can be easily assembled into a fully enclosed pipe with high dust and water tightness using a "zipper" method. e-skin is also extremely lightweight, suitable for small installation spaces, for example in pick-and-place applications, and unlike other corrugated hoses, it can even be used as a free-standing conduit over short distances due to the stiffness of the material, the rib contour, and a defined direction of movement. An internal partition is additionally available as an option.
