In stand-up pouches, a wide variety of liquid products can be safely, airtight, and resealably packaged – starting with baby food with childproof caps to self-heating pouches for "to go" soups. An important role is played by innovative, sustainable, and consumer-friendly packaging with the appropriate sealing spout. They offer consumers in the food, pharmaceutical, medical, and cosmetics industries high recognition value and added benefits.

Pöppelmann FAMAC®, a leading manufacturer of technical functional parts and packaging, is a competent partner when it comes to further developing existing packaging concepts, such as transitioning from a canister to a bag or from a cartridge to a pouch. On October 15 and 16, 2014, the company from Lohne presented modern sealing spouts and caps for flexible packaging concepts at the 4th European Stand-up Pouch Conference organized by Innoform in Osnabrück. These not only feature an intuitive design, high-quality appearance, and opening sizes suitable for all applications, but also meet the requirements of innovative sealing processes such as ultrasonic sealing, heat sealing, and impulse sealing.

"Market leadership is achieved through innovative packaging that redefines existing concepts and thus provides added value to the consumer," explained project manager Mike Landwehr from Pöppelmann FAMAC® during his presentation on innovative packaging at the stand-up pouch conference. The company itself continuously works on innovations and regularly introduces new or further developed products. In addition to the standard program, custom solutions are also implemented for customers. Pöppelmann FAMAC® places great importance on close collaboration with its customers and partners, such as pouch, film, or filling machine manufacturers. "One of our special solutions for hardware stores in the field of adhesives & sealants was even awarded the Silverstar and the Worldstar in 2013," reported Mike Landwehr.

The company's packaging concepts enable filling both through the spout and through the open top seam of the pouch. They ensure excellent machine compatibility – whether filling pouches on a conveyor line or sealing and filling. This allows costs to be reduced and various film pouch shapes and materials to be processed.

Pöppelmann FAMAC® offers a system with its four series AE 001 - AE 004 featuring a guide groove, uniform dimensions, various opening diameters between 10.5 and 21.5 mm, and an optimized sealing contour for a high-quality pouch appearance.

Finally, the project manager reported on innovations and further developments at Pöppelmann FAMAC®, such as the KiSi closure, flip-top cap, barrier pouches, and a planned series expansion with spouts of 8.5 mm diameter. Following the conference, participants had the opportunity to visit Plant 3 on Pöppelmannstraße as part of an excursion.
