Microorganisms are not only ubiquitous in nature but also in companies. Here, bacteria, fungi, and algae in aqueous media can lead from odor nuisances to endangering employees, production, and even products. The new specialist conference "Microbiology in Surface Technology" provides information about causes and effects of microbiological contamination. The seminar by fairXperts, which takes place on December 6, 2018, at K3N in Nürtingen, presents solutions to easily prevent microbiological problems in companies.

Whether water-based cutting fluids (CF), degreasing and cleaning baths, cooling water circuits, water treatment systems, or shower water – these and various other media in companies offer microorganisms ideal growth conditions. The effects of contamination can be diverse. They range from unpleasant odors to property changes in CF and microbiologically grown ion exchangers to Legionella in employee showers and cooling systems. The "Microbiology in Surface Technology" conference deals extensively with these topics as well as the relevant legal regulations and informs about REACH-compliant solutions. Perspectives on the sustainable and economical use of microorganisms in production are demonstrated with examples from biological degreasing and surface cleaning as well as cooling lubricant systems. The event by fairXperts GmbH & Co. KG will be held on December 6, 2018, at K3N in Nürtingen.

The conference is divided into four thematic blocks. The opening session is "Insights into the Microcosm in the Company." Next, it covers "Microbiology in Technical Liquids in Surface Technology." The presentations in the block "Combating Microorganisms with Antimicrobial Surfaces and Substances" deal with solutions to prevent biofilms on technical surfaces and biostable cooling lubricants. In the session "Green Clean – Successful Case Studies," real-world applications for biological degreasing and cleaning as well as the sustainable and economical use of microorganisms in production are presented. Furthermore, an outlook provides information on the use of antimicrobial natural substances instead of biocides to stabilize technical liquids. The event concludes with a discussion on "What can microbiology achieve instead of fighting it?"

With this broad program, the conference, which is aimed at specialists and executives from manufacturing as well as environmental and process engineering across various industries, informs about many microbiological problems and current developments to prevent them. At the same time, it addresses specific questions so that participants can better define their company-specific challenges in this area and resolve them technically and economically with suppliers.
