New EE300Ex measuring transformer for intrinsically safe industrial applications
The new EE300Ex Humidity / Temperature Transmitter from E+E Elektronik has been specially developed for demanding industrial applications. The device complies with ATEX guidelines for intrinsically safe equipment and can be used in both gas and dust explosion-proof areas.
Thanks to its easy-to-clean, aesthetically pleasing stainless steel housing, the humidity transmitter is particularly suitable for use in the pharmaceutical and chemical industries. The EE300Ex can be installed directly in explosion hazard zones 0 / 20. The long-term stable and proven E+E humidity sensor ensures precise and reliable measurements in the range of 0–100% rF and -40–180°C, under pressures from 0.01 to 300 bar.
The two-part housing concept (separating the connection area and the measuring unit) not only simplifies the installation of the humidity transmitter but also allows for quick replacement of the measuring unit — for example, for calibration — without complex rewiring.
The EE300Ex demonstrates high flexibility through different designs. As a compact version for wall mounting or with a measuring probe up to 10 meters away, the humidity transmitter is suitable for various applications. With the optional display, the current values can be read directly on the device.
Similar to humidity measurement in air, the EE300Ex can also be used for humidity measurement in oils. The oil's moisture content can be output either absolutely in [ppm] or relatively as water content [aw]. Typical applications include systems for oil cleaning/drying or online monitoring of lubricating and gear oils on oil platforms.
The EE300Ex is designed with 2-wire technology. The measurement values are output on two 4–20mA analog outputs. Power supply is provided via any intrinsically safe power supply device. In addition to humidity and temperature, the device can also output dew point, frost point, absolute humidity, mixing ratio, and other calculation functions.
Using the configuration adapter, customer-specific adjustments of the transmitter and calibration of the humidity and temperature outputs can be performed easily and quickly.
In addition to the already mentioned applications, the EE300Ex is also well suited for use in power plants, grain mills, or explosion hazard storage rooms.
