Luzern Fair repositions the trade fair for the medical technology industry and focuses on innovations

With the phase-out of the federal export promotion program for the medical technology industry - Medtech Switzerland - the most important and largest medical technology event in Switzerland is being repositioned. The new format - Swiss Medtech Expo (SMTE) - will take place from September 15 to 16, 2015, replacing the World Medtech Forum Lucerne (WMTF). The focus of the event will be on enabling key innovations.

In terms of innovation, suppliers are leading the way

The recently published Swiss Medical Technology Industry Survey (SMTI) clearly shows that especially medium-sized and smaller medical technology manufacturers expect significant revenue growth and an increase in innovation activities. The Swiss Medtech Expo builds on this and highlights the outstanding competencies of the supplier industry as well as research and development. The SMTE demonstrates how suppliers and their partners in the most creative country in the world, Medtech, enable innovations and establishes a clear positioning for long-term positive development.

Topics that concern the industry

The organizers focus on areas where Swiss industry has already made a name for itself:

- Active and passive implants
- Additive manufacturing as well as highly complex components and structures (e.g., bone or tissue replacements)
- Industry 4.0
