Lorenz Consult: Successful Employee Development at the Vienna Location

The civil engineering office for construction, Lorenz Consult, has recently moved into its new office space in the Vienna district of Simmering. The branch of the Graz-based company spans approximately 235 square meters and provides a modern workplace for eleven employees. Additional staff are being sought.

Since 2006, the civil engineering office headquartered in Graz has been represented with an office in Vienna. While there were two employees at the time, currently there are seven employees managing the growing client base. Additionally, around three employees commute weekly from Graz to Vienna. For the next one to two years, Lorenz Consult aims to further increase the number of staff in Vienna. This expansion is a direct result of the improved order situation, which significantly exceeded expectations last year. To further enhance efficiency, Lorenz Consult is actively seeking new talent for the Vienna location. As the Vienna site has grown personnel-wise, a move to a larger office in Modecenterstraße in the eleventh district of Vienna took place at the beginning of the year.

When choosing the location and office furnishings, sustainability was a primary focus. The furniture from previous locations is being reused in the spirit of ecological responsibility, and the existing room layout of the new office was only minimally adjusted. Besides this requirement, it was crucial to find office spaces that enable focused work in a pleasant atmosphere. The office is located in close proximity to the subway and is also easily accessible by bicycle. The new office is situated in MARXIMUM, which has been awarded the Silver Certificate by the ÖGNI (Austrian Society for Sustainable Real Estate Industry) for its environmentally friendly construction and efficient resource use, contributing to lower primary energy consumption and reduced overall energy use. Additionally, employees have access to a private rooftop terrace.

In Vienna, we are strongly engaged in the healthcare sector, particularly in laboratory and pharmaceutical planning. Furthermore, we are active in HVAC planning, civil engineering services, and technical infrastructure projects. Our expertise is applied both in planning and construction supervision across various areas of building construction, supply technology, and infrastructure,” says Christian Lorenz, Managing Director of Lorenz Consult.

Focus on optimal collaboration between locations

In addition to the headquarters in Graz and the branch in Vienna, there are further offices in Linz and Villach. The goal with these locations is to serve clients on-site in the best possible way. An essential success factor is good cross-location collaboration among employees. Therefore, an internal application process was initiated in September 2024 to appoint a location manager. An employee from the Vienna team has taken on this responsible role in addition to their regular duties. Their task is to ensure the technical operation of the office and to promote social interaction among colleagues as well as intensive exchange among team leaders with specific expertise.

The expectations for the Vienna location are high: Lorenz Consult plans to establish Vienna as an equally important site alongside Graz in the medium term, from which projects in the company's core competencies can be efficiently managed.
