The Austrian civil engineering office Lorenz Consult is expanding its presence in Germany with the opening of a new location in Munich. The company, which has established itself as one of the leading general planners for technically complex construction projects, marks another milestone in its expansion strategy. As of early May, the new branch in Munich's Ridlerstraße has commenced operations. The management of the site is taken over by Martin Piehse.

Founded in 1972, Lorenz Consult now employs more than 60 staff members across five locations. The company, headquartered in Graz, covers all planning and supervision services for construction projects with its interdisciplinary team — with particular expertise in healthcare construction, cleanroom solutions for pharmaceuticals, food, and electronics, industrial and steel construction, as well as state-of-the-art 5D BIM planning and digitalization.

Strategic Expansion into a Dynamic Market

"With the opening of new locations, we are consistently aiming to be even closer to our clients. We have already successfully managed projects in Germany — with our Munich office, we now create the ideal conditions to offer our services even more efficiently and directly," says Managing Director DI Christian Lorenz. Following Vienna (2006), Linz (2022), and Villach (2023), Munich is the next logical step in the company's development.

The decision to establish the Munich location is based on several strategic factors: the market potential in Bavaria is comparable to that in Austria, the geographical proximity to the headquarters in Graz promotes internal collaboration, and stable economic conditions create a favorable environment for sustainable growth.

Site Manager Martin Priehse – Bridge Between Austria and Germany

With DI Martin Priehse (51), an experienced site manager has been recruited, who is well acquainted with the requirements of the German market. The native Grazian, who studied architecture at Graz University of Technology, lives with his family in the Greater Munich area and was until recently the site manager of an Austrian architectural firm in the Bavarian capital — in this role, he already worked closely with Lorenz Consult. His extensive experience as a general planner coordinator and head of project planning on numerous German projects, as well as his competence in leading multidisciplinary teams, make him the ideal candidate to establish the new location.

"We are very pleased to have gained Martin Priehse as a site manager, who is not only highly qualified professionally but also perfectly embodies the connection between our headquarters in Graz and the new office in Munich," emphasizes Lorenz.

Service Portfolio of the Munich Location

The new site will offer all core competencies of Lorenz Consult, including general planning, building construction planning, structural engineering, technical building equipment planning, and local construction supervision. Over the next twelve to 24 months, the focus will be on building a team of five to seven employees as well as acquiring and executing at least two ongoing general planning projects. Initially, three employees are planned to work in the project planning sector.

Long-term Perspective: Munich on Par with Vienna

Lorenz Consult has ambitious goals with the new location: Munich is to develop into a similarly significant office location as Vienna in the medium term — with a team of 20 to 30 employees. "We continue to grow steadily. Our increasing number of staff and the opening of new locations reflect the success of our work and the trust of our clients," Lorenz concludes.
