Lorenz Consult achieved a revenue increase of 61 percent

Lorenz Consult achieved a remarkable increase in revenue in the fiscal year 2023, rising from 7.7 million euros in 2022 to 12.4 million euros – an increase of 61 percent. The company, founded in 1972, now employs over 60 staff members across four locations, all of which cover building-specific planning and supervision services in the fields of healthcare facilities, cleanrooms for pharmaceuticals, food, and electronics, industrial and steel construction, as well as planning technology 5D BIM and digitalization in construction with their expertise.

"This increase can be partly attributed to our large-scale project in laboratory construction that has been ongoing for several years, but also to our successful acquisition efforts in 2022, which we were able to implement in 2023," explains Managing Director Christian Lorenz. In addition to the aforementioned laboratory project, other major projects in 2023 included the finalization of the production building for Lactosan, the start of construction on a large logistics project in wholesale, and the third construction phase of the surgery at the University Hospital in Graz, all of which were decisive for the revenue jump.

The family business, founded in 1972 and now run by the second generation, started in steel and industrial construction, from which the expertise in structural engineering developed. Since then, Lorenz Consult has evolved into a general planner and is positioned worldwide. In the 1980s, the company took a step toward hospital construction. With its entry into the pharmaceutical industry in 2003, Lorenz Consult's team became internationally sought-after experts in cleanroom planning.

Employee Growth and Locations

"With the increase in revenue, we were also able to expand our team of employees, and in 2023 we surpassed the milestone of 60 staff members for the first time," says Lorenz. Today, they work at four locations. The main site in Graz now employs around 50 people. Due to personnel growth, the Graz office was also expanded by an additional floor. "The establishment of new locations was a logical consequence of the acquisition, with the goal of being closer to the customer," explains Lorenz. After opening a location in Vienna in 2006 – followed by a move to a new office in St. Marx at the beginning of 2023 – and a new office in Linz in the fall of 2022, an independent office in Villach was established in spring 2023.

When asked what makes the company successful, Christian Lorenz gives a very clear answer: "The cohesion of the employees and learning as a team." In 2024, Lorenz Consult received the Top Company award from kununu for the second consecutive year. "But our core competencies in cleanroom, process-intensive industry, logistics, and healthcare are also crucial to our success. We seek and apply for projects that are technologically demanding and thus complex in their formulation and implementation. We are most successful when we can incorporate all our own disciplines into the projects. That makes us strong in execution and successful," Lorenz explains.

"What is important to us is the sense of community to foster cohesion and team spirit. We have gone skiing together, spent two days in Trieste, and traditionally start the Christmas season in early December with a great meal," says Lorenz.

And in 2024, the company will continue with many interesting large-scale projects and exciting smaller projects.
