Under the motto: "The future is made of ideas" mia goes into the second round.

Promoting innovations, inspiring the industry – these are the goals of the motan innovation award mia. It is being announced internationally for the second time this year. Ideas related to materials handling in the field of plastics manufacturing and processing are sought. The prize, worth a total of 20,000 euros, aims to motivate all those interested in plastics and its application possibilities, whether professionally or as enthusiasts, to develop ideas. This can include skilled workers in production as well as students from fields such as plant engineering, process engineering, or materials science. "Too many good ideas are neither developed nor pursued. This results in a significant loss of potential for the industry. We want to uncover the treasures that are often only in minds and drawers," explains motan CEO Sandra Füllsack, describing the company's motivation for awarding the prize.

The company’s focus with the award is not only on ideas related to its own product range, but submissions can also relate to all conceivable fields of plastics production. Winners will receive support in developing their inventions up to market readiness, in addition to the prize money, and motan will assist with patent applications in the applicant's name.

Entries can be submitted by individuals or teams. The deadline for submission is December 31, 2017. In March 2018, an independent jury will decide on the nominations. Criteria include: level of innovation, relevance to practical applications in the plastics industry, feasibility, and market potential in the field of materials handling. The five best submissions will have the opportunity to present their ideas in summer 2018. The award ceremony will take place in October 2018 at FAKUMA in Friedrichshafen. The jury will decide how to distribute the prize money of 20,000 euros among the finalists.

Nomination: 31.03.2018: Nomination of the five best innovations.

Presentation: Summer 2018. The five nominees will present their ideas to the jury.

Award ceremony: During FAKUMA on October 18, 2018, at the Dornier Museum Friedrichshafen.

Prize money: The 20,000 euros will be divided among the five nominees. The jury will decide on the distribution among the finalists.

Jury: A panel of selected experts from universities and institutes in the field of plastics research.

Participants: Employees of the motan group, individuals or project groups from companies in the plastics manufacturing or processing industry, students, and all those interested in plastics and its application possibilities are eligible to participate.

Costs: Travel and accommodation for the presentations and the award ceremony are covered by motan holding gmbh.
