The family-owned company Viessmann, one of the world's leading providers of solutions for sustainable climate (heating, cooling, refrigeration, water, and air quality) and renewable energies, is building a new facility for its Refrigeration Solutions division. With a ceremonial foundation stone laying, the company has begun construction of the new site in Legnica, Poland. The new building underscores the company's intention to expand Refrigeration Solutions into a second core business alongside the traditional Climate Solutions division in the medium term, which will drive additional growth.

The markets for refrigeration technology in Central Europe are important growth drivers for the coming years, which is why Viessmann decided to build the Polish site. Generally, Viessmann Refrigeration Solutions aims to develop state-of-the-art products while working as efficiently and sustainably as possible. The new location in Legnica provides the right conditions for this.

Legnica provides us with a good basis for proximity to our key markets in Central Europe and reflects our goal to create living spaces for future generations," said Max Viessmann, CEO of the Viessmann Group, on the occasion of the foundation stone laying. "It will promote collaboration and joint development of our Climate Solutions and Refrigeration Solutions divisions, as both are important employers for the regional population and share the same location."

Largest individual investment in the Refrigeration Solutions division

As a strategic addition to the existing plants of Refrigeration Solutions in Hof (Germany) and Porvoo (Finland), the Legnica site will ensure even closer proximity to customers in Central Europe. Therefore, it is particularly important that logistics for the Eastern European markets are managed from such a central location. The new site is scheduled to open in 2022, and the recruitment of the team is already underway.

This project is the largest individual investment in the Refrigeration Solutions division since its founding in 2013. In its final expansion stage, up to 200 people will work at the new Legnica site.

The Viessmann plant for climate solutions in Legnica has been in operation for years and primarily produces heat pumps, which are crucial for achieving global energy and climate policy goals. The new site is just the beginning, as Viessmann continues to invest heavily in the region's development. Due to the geographical proximity of the company's two largest and most important divisions, Climate Solutions and Refrigeration Solutions, significant investment synergies are being utilized.
