SCHMIDT® Flow Sensor SS 20.715 LED: Designed especially for laminar flow applications with intensive cleaning processes: Fully encapsulated sensor elements in stainless steel make it ideal for demanding cleanroom applications and pure processes, and resistant to aggressive media.

SCHMIDT Technology, flow sensors manufacturer and Black Forest technology workshop, presents the SCHMIDT® Flow Sensor SS 20.715 LED, a robust solution for continuous monitoring of laminar airflow in cleanrooms and pure applications. Encapsulated entirely in stainless steel, it impresses with its resistance to aggressive media and dirt accumulation, and also offers excellent protection during the coarse cleaning of pharmaceutical equipment.

Monitoring airflow in cleanrooms and pure areas

A directional airflow in cleanrooms protects products from contamination, and disturbing particles are safely drained away. For this purpose, a uniform airflow from ceiling to floor is maintained in cleanrooms with high cleanliness classes ("directed, turbulence-free displacement airflow"; monitoring range from wN = 0.36 to 0.54 m/s). The measurement is carried out on the cleanroom side after final filters. Since air exchange is throttled during downtime, highly precise measurement of air velocity from 0.1 m/s is necessary.

The solution: Measuring supply air flow with the SCHMIDT® Flow Sensor SS 20.715 LED

The air velocity is measured approximately 150 to 300 mm below the front surface of the filter according to standard EN ISO 14644-3. For easy installation in ceiling and wall systems, the thermal SCHMIDT® Flow Sensor SS 20.715 LED offers a cleanroom-compatible quick-mount system. The sensor is extremely compact, as all electronics are integrated into the sensor tube, thus avoiding turbulence in the turbulence-free displacement airflow.

Individually tailored to each application

For optimal installation in various applications, 3 standard variants are available. The laminar flow sensor can be mounted in a straight version with 300 mm sensor length on the wall or in an angled form under the ceiling of the cleanroom or filling plant. The angled design can be configured with dimensions of 270 x 300 mm or 150 x 300 mm (where the first dimension defines the distance to the ceiling; plus mounting system).

Robust solution for pure applications with aggressive media or intensive cleaning

The thermal SCHMIDT® Flow Sensor SS 20.715 LED is the robust solution for extremely challenging cleanroom applications. Product changes in pharmaceutical filling plants or simple internal requirements force operators of cleanrooms and pure areas to clean them regularly. When aggressive media are used or more intensive cleaning is required due to significant or stubborn contamination, the new laminar flow flow sensor SS 20.715 LED with double-pin sensor head made of stainless steel is the first choice. The double-pin sensor has been precisely designed for the aforementioned needs and is well suited for demanding applications due to its fully stainless steel encapsulated sensor elements. The SS 20.715 LED measures not only the flow velocity but also the medium temperature from -20 °C to +70 °C.

Thanks to the cleanroom-compatible SCHMIDT® quick-mount system, the SS 20.715 LED can be exchanged easily against an existing sensor without additional effort and installed as simply as before.

The sensor operates without moving parts, and due to the measurement principle, drift or aging are not relevant. The fully stainless steel encapsulated sensor elements minimize maintenance to an absolute minimum. If cleaning is necessary, it can be carried out very easily and in various ways.

High accuracy and detection of very small flows

The special double-pin sensor head detects flow velocities from 0.1 m/s up to 10 m/s in three selectable measurement ranges (1 / 2.5 / 10 m/s). To ensure precise measurement results within this velocity range, each sensor is individually calibrated in a high-quality wind tunnel. Optionally, the sensor can also be delivered with a DAkkS-accredited calibration.
