Laborial wins Innovation Award at ContaminExpo2013

The interactive worktop for laboratories Blautouch developed by Laborial and distributed in France by Sterigene won first place in an innovation contest organized by the French Association ASPEC and the magazine Salles Propres at the 13th edition of ContaminExpo, a worldwide reference event in the field of controlled environments, which took place between March 26th and 28th in Paris.

The Award Jury was composed of members of the scientific council and permanent members of Aspec, the Secretary of the Scientific Council of Aspec, and a representative of the magazine Salles Propres. The award in the category "cleanroom constituting elements" recognizes the initiative and efforts Laborial has been making in developing innovative solutions for laboratories.

Blautouch is an interactive worktop that allows replacing computers, keyboards, and mice in laboratories, which are major sources of contamination in critical spaces. This product was developed according to the most recent guidelines in "hygienic design" and is manufactured from materials resistant to the most aggressive disinfectants and reagents, making it currently one of the cleanest and most efficient solutions worldwide for access to computing equipment in laboratories and cleanrooms.

Blautouch is the result of an RDI project "Intellab - Smart Labs" developed by Laborial in partnership with FEUP and Edigma, under the NSRF (QREN in Portugal), which also led to a system for advanced monitoring and control in laboratories, the Advanlab.

The product, already installed in some laboratories, has been recognized by the international press as a benchmark regarding the integration of computer equipment and has received this award as the highest recognition since its launch.

For José Branco, CEO of Laborial, this award "is the international recognition of the vision and investment made in recent years by Laborial in RDI, finding solutions that address critical problems in laboratory spaces."

The magazine Salles Propres is a bi-monthly French publication established in 1998 and created by ASPEC together with PYC Édition to keep up with all news and developments in the fields of particle, chemical, and biological contamination. The editorial committee is composed of several experts appointed by ASPEC to ensure the technical and scientific quality of the magazine.
