LABOR IMPULS FORUM 2025 Innovative research and laboratory worlds – from vision to reality
Specialist Conference / Case Studies / Lessons Learned
The focus of the LABOR IMPULS FORUM 2026 on March 17-18, 2026 in Munich is:
What do laboratory spaces look like that not only enable innovation but actively promote it? The South German region is among the most innovative areas in Europe – here, globally relevant developments in biotechnology, medical technology, pharmaceuticals, and chemistry are emerging. The region is characterized by a high concentration of companies and research institutions that, for example, develop and produce biological medicines. Notably, the Ulm–Laupheim–Biberach–Ravensburg axis and the European Metropolitan Region Munich stand out. And it is here that the LABOR IMPULS FORUM 2026 will take place – under the main theme “INNOVATION SPACES SOUTH: Laboratories and Life Sciences in Dialogue”.
The focus is on interdisciplinary exchange between architecture, science, and technology. Laboratories are understood as crucial interfaces between research, development, and future technologies – especially in the rapidly growing Life Sciences. These industries require not only excellent research teams but also physical environments that enable collaboration, flexibility, and sustainability. The laboratory thus becomes an active co-creator of the innovation process. The LABOR IMPULS FORUM sees itself as a platform to actively shape this change – together with the people who experience it daily. Participate in the LABOR IMPULS FORUM 2026 and contribute your personal expertise to the exchange between the disciplines of the laboratory world.
On the second day of the event, participants will have the opportunity to get to know the Helmholtz Center Munich up close: the Helmholtz Diabetes Center (HDC) and the Helmholtz Pioneer Campus (HPC).
The HDC is dedicated to one of the greatest health challenges of our time. With a strong focus on translational research, the HDC combines basic research, clinical studies, and data-driven approaches to understand diabetes and metabolic diseases holistically. The goal is to develop new prevention, diagnosis, and therapy approaches that measurably contribute to improving patient care.
The HPC represents a new approach in biomedical research. Here, visionary minds, interdisciplinary teams, and entrepreneurial thinking come together. It offers young research groups maximum freedom to pursue radically new ideas, take risks, and develop innovative solutions for the medicine of tomorrow. State-of-the-art laboratory infrastructure, open work concepts, and a pronounced culture of innovation make the campus a hotspot for scientific pioneering work.
Visiting both facilities provides an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at excellent research practices and vividly demonstrates how scientific visions, technological innovation, and societal relevance come together at the Helmholtz Center Munich. An inspiring conclusion to the Labor Impuls Forum, opening new perspectives and encouraging further reflection.
LABOR IMPULS FORUM 2026 – two days of expert conferences in dialogue about innovations between laboratories and life sciences.
