High concentrations of dust and suspended particles in the environment are still considered undesirable sources of disturbance in many production areas and laboratories today. They can impair both the health of employees and the quality of sensitive manufacturing processes. While the use of the flexible dust mat from Kager can reduce the particle load in the room air, the company's pneumatic cold air curtains provide targeted protection against smoke and soot.

Triggered by the current situation, many companies and businesses are currently raising their standards for occupational health and safety. In addition to implementing stricter hygiene regulations and behavioral rules, some locations are also installing dust and particle barriers similar to those known primarily from laboratory, cleanroom, and sterile room technology. Depending on the application area, they serve both occupational safety (improving room air quality) and quality assurance and process optimization (technical cleanliness). As a contribution to the realization of such barriers, the trading and consulting company Kager offers the dust collection mats of its SB series. They have already proven their efficiency as particle barriers in many cleanroom and laboratory applications in industry and research. With their help, the quality of room air can be significantly improved and — as climate control experts would say — the proportion of "dispersed distributions of solid substances" in the environment can be noticeably reduced.

The dark blue dust collection mats from Kager are available in the standard sizes 1,200 x 600 mm and 1,000 x 1,000 mm and can be laid in all sensitive walk zones of cleanrooms, research laboratories, or even clinics and doctor's offices. For use in long corridors or larger operational areas, the trading and consulting company also offers them in ten-meter rolls. The SB mats are made of a high-quality styrene-butadiene mixture that does not release plasticizers or harmful vinyl chloride. Their high-adhesion surface ensures that even stubborn dust and dirt particles from shoe soles or mobile transport and equipment carts are removed. With minimal effort, this significantly reduces the risk of uncontrolled particle transfer.

For less frequented walk zones, Kager recommends the dust collection mat in a 3.0 mm thick version; for more heavily loaded areas, the 6.0 mm thick variant. Designed like a carpet, the mats adhere non-slip to almost any clean, smooth surface. Pre-treatment of the floor or special fasteners are not necessary; on rough surfaces, gluing is required. Cleaning can be done with water and commercially available washing and disinfecting agents and does not reduce the adhesive strength.

Particle barrier made of dry cold air

As a second component to improve occupational health and safety at industrial and laboratory workplaces, Kager offers its pneumatic modules of the Type Line-Blow. They belong to the family of air curtains or air blades and are part of many drying and cleaning processes. They are used, for example, in packaging, glass, plastics, and coating technology when surfaces need to be gently and quickly cooled, dried, and freed from dust, dirt particles, and liquid residues.

As a safety measure, the Line-Blow from Kager can also be used to shield employees from smoke as well as soot and abrasion particles. Such lung-penetrating pollutants are generated at many industrial workplaces — for example, in foundries, paint shops, and welding shops — and burden the breathing air. When properly mounted and adjusted, the Line-Blow can serve as an invisible barrier between the employee and the air contaminated with harmful suspended particles, preventing their spread.

The Line-Blow is available in a lightweight aluminum version as well as a corrosion-resistant stainless steel variant, mainly designed for applications in the food, pharmaceutical, medical, and chemical industries. Depending on the version, the module creates a thin barrier of cool, dry air with a width of 150 to 900 mm. The air curtain's shape is achieved through the special design of a just 50-micrometer-wide air outlet opening in the housing of the Line-Blow. The expelled air's surface area is "placed into the room," with the volume of the air curtain being 25 times higher than the supplied compressed air.

For longer or wider sections, multiple Line-Blows can be mounted side by side — depending on size, installation situation, and application, hanging, lying, or standing. The Line-Blow is connected to the industrial compressed air network via a ¼-inch fitting and operates very quietly.
