Kögel presents new device cart system "PrimeCart"

Existing device cart systems on the market for the installation of medical and electronic devices typically feature numerous undercuts, corner areas, and hard-to-access cable channels, which significantly complicate the installation of electrical equipment and the recommended wipe disinfecting in everyday hospital operations. To address the ever-increasing hygiene requirements in clinical environments, Kögel GmbH has developed a device cart system that largely omits 90-degree edges. This simplifies wipe disinfecting, significantly improves handling safety, and simultaneously enhances cable management.

The new "PrimeCart" cart system from Kögel is designed for the installation of medical and electronic devices in demanding functional units, especially in the fields of diagnosis and therapy for hospitals, medical practices, and outpatient clinics. The development focused on meeting the highest hygienic standards, stability, stability during standing and driving, ergonomics, and multifunctionality.

The "PrimeCart" cart concept can be optimally adapted to customer requirements due to its high flexibility and modularity. The system impresses with optimal cable management and the detailed fulfillment of the hygiene requirements of the Robert Koch Institute for "Design of workplaces, rooms, and functional units in clinics." The materials used are non-hygroscopic, easy to clean, and disinfect. This is facilitated by a seamless, homogeneous, and non-porous material structure and construction.

In its design, Kögel paid attention to minimizing uncontrollable hollow spaces, capillary transitions, and necessary seals. This is particularly important for use in hospitals and practices, as the carts often come into contact with microorganisms and infectious agents—including those resistant to antibiotics. At the same time, the number of high-risk patients, who are especially susceptible to infections, is increasing. Hygiene is therefore of utmost importance.

The "PrimeCart" cart system is made of high-quality stainless steel, avoiding coated sheet components and non-homogeneous material combinations. Thus, it is impossible for parts of coatings or surface refinements to detach or for individual components to corrode. The system easily withstands aggressive cleaning and disinfecting media used in infection prophylaxis. In addition to optimal cleaning, this also ensures a particularly long service life—an important advantage considering declining hospital budgets. Kögel also offers the "PrimeCart" family as a machine-cleanable variant.

The cable channel system integrated into each shelf guarantees an almost invisible, easy-to-install, and secure routing of data and power cables to the centrally located media column, which is always easily accessible. The two generously dimensioned support systems are intended for housing electrical energy, data lines, potential equalization, oxygen, and/or compressed air. With a versatile range of accessories, the device carts can be flexibly adapted to various requirements in clinical environments. To prevent infection spread, the "PrimeCart" system can be completely disassembled into its individual parts and subjected to manual cleaning and disinfection. Simultaneously, complete disassembly can significantly reduce transport costs, especially in export areas.
