inVenti+ optimizes in vitro plant cultivation
Pöppelmann FAMAC® presents laboratory vessels with integrated air filter in space-saving design
Pöppelmann FAMAC®, Pöppelmann TEKU® and Lab Associates present inVenti+, a cultivation cup for in-vitro plant cultivation. The innovative laboratory container features an integrated air filter, factory sterilization, and a design tailored for transportation, optimizing growth conditions and logistics in plant propagation under laboratory conditions.
Optimal Growing Conditions
The inVenti+ cultivation cup is a container made of transparent plastic (polypropylene), ideally suited for plant propagation and cultivation under laboratory conditions. The airtight system consists of a square plastic cup and a lid with an integrated filter for controlled, safe gas exchange. The filter, which varies in material, number, and size, has a pore size of only 0.22 µm and reliably protects the plant culture from microorganisms. This allows growers to precisely control the gas exchange of their plants, thereby improving growth rate and overall quality. inVenti+ is manufactured by Pöppelmann FAMAC® in cleanroom conditions and delivered in secure foil packaging sterilized. This makes gamma irradiation, typically used to sterilize such cultivation cups, unnecessary – and prevents the associated yellowish discoloration of the plastic container, which can impair light transmission. Since Pöppelmann FAMAC® produces all components of inVenti+ under one roof and no additional external process steps are required, this shortens lead times for providing the containers.
Space-Saving Design
The inVenti+ cultivation cup is currently available in a standard height of 80 mm and will soon also be available in heights of 50, 90, and 120 mm. Stacking lugs ensure secure stacking of the in-vitro cups during storage and transport. Due to its lighter weight compared to glass containers and its square design with external dimensions of 9.6 cm width x 14.6 cm length, the plant cultivation cup is optimized for space utilization, e.g., in standard cartons or boxes measuring 40 x 60 cm or 80 x 120 cm, and is designed for shipping on Euro or IC pallets. inVenti+ is also ideally suited for air freight transport.
Bundled Knowledge, Successful Cooperation
The development of inVenti+ is a collaboration between the plastics specialist Pöppelmann and the Dutch company Lab Associates, which specializes in laboratory supplies for plant micropropagation. The interdisciplinary project benefited from Pöppelmann FAMAC®’s expertise in developing and manufacturing technical functional parts and packaging for the food, pharmaceutical, and cosmetics industries as well as medical technology. Additionally, the Pöppelmann TEKU® division, specializing in products for commercial horticulture, contributed extensive know-how related to the green industry. “By combining our expertise, we have formed a strong team and are proud of the successful joint development work from which inVenti+ has emerged,” adds Marco von Döllen, Sales Manager Packaging at Pöppelmann FAMAC®. Jeroen Naus, Managing Director of Lab Associates, adds: “Through our exchanges with customers, we recognized the great need for a safer, more efficient, and more uniform cultivation container. We sought a partner whose quality standards align with ours. The Pöppelmann Group not only has decades of plastics expertise but also possesses extensive know-how in the pharmaceutical and horticultural sectors through the FAMAC® and TEKU® divisions, making further collaborations for future projects very feasible.”
