The structural change in many areas of manufacturing industry makes knowledge about new developments, trends, and benchmark applications a competitive factor. When it comes to deburring and the production of precision surfaces, the conference on Deburring Technologies and Precision Surfaces organized by fairXperts has established itself as the information platform in the German-speaking region. The 11th event will be held on April 26 and 27, 2023, in Nürtingen.

In the manufacturing of precision parts, companies are confronted with increasingly higher or new requirements. These include, among others, more demanding specifications for surface quality, more complex component geometries, a changed range of components, new and modified materials, as well as manufacturing processes. At the same time, production must be energy- and resource-efficient as well as cost-optimized. To master this balancing act in the manufacturing steps of deburring, edge rounding, component cleaning, and production of precision surfaces both technically and economically, information and know-how about innovative processing solutions and trends are just as indispensable as best-practice applications. An optimal transfer of knowledge in this area is offered by the 11th Deburring Technologies and Precision Surfaces Conference. It will be organized by the private trade fair and conference organizer fairXperts GmbH & Co. KG on April 26 and 27, 2023, at the Kultur- und Tagungszentrum K3N in Nürtingen and is divided into six thematic blocks.

Deburring with special equipment

Two lecture series are dedicated to new and further developed processes and solutions for deburring with special equipment. Topics include efficient edge and surface processing through vibratory finishing and electro-finishing. Information will also be provided about thermal deburring and its application possibilities. An overview lecture will give insights into various post-processing and finishing technologies as well as their industrial use, using examples of components manufactured by subtractive and additive methods. It will also be demonstrated that ultrasonic deburring can meet the specification “sharp-edged burr-free.” Additionally, the processing of internal surfaces of various components with flow grinding, as well as the ball deburring and cleaning process Pinflow for internal and external processing of workpieces, will be discussed.

Mechanical deburring with tools

In this thematic area, the presentation “Process-safe deburring of undefined workpiece edges” introduces different solution options as well as their advantages and disadvantages. Knowledge about the parameters that influence the result when precisely rounding cutting edges with brush processes will also be conveyed. How can further time savings be achieved in an already optimized production process by combining multiple operations in one working step? The answer is an innovative drilling combination tool.

Process-safe surface cleaning – removing burr residues

Cleaning is a quality-relevant component of the deburring process. The importance of cleaning for the deburring result as well as for subsequent processes after deburring will be emphasized at the conference. For the removal of fine flitter burrs, a newly developed pulsating nozzle will be presented, which imparts higher kinetic energy to the dry CO2 snow blasting process.

Automated quality inspection of surfaces

This lecture block begins with an introduction to quality assurance in deburring. The subsequent presentation will inform about a mobile inspection device for surface inspection. Through interfaces and the development and implementation of self-learning algorithms, this solution enables efficient process control and quality monitoring. Another lecture will take participants into the world of digital holography and inform about the current state of sensor technology for industrial quality assurance.

Automated deburring with industrial robots

What are the success factors in automated robot processing, and what should be considered when deburring with robots? The conference provides answers to these fundamental questions. Solutions for the form-shaping, robot-based fine processing of workpieces with indeterminate incoming quality, such as cast and forged parts, are the topic of this lecture block. As well as automated deburring of cast, forged, and stamped parts with tools using CNC machines and robots.

The program is rounded off with an accompanying exhibition. This allows participants to generate knowledge not only through presentations of new developments and practical process solutions but also through direct exchange of experiences with experts. The event thus offers valuable inspiration for internal process optimization.

The target audience of the conference includes specialists and managers from manufacturing, production planning, technology, process engineering, quality assurance, as well as development and design from various industrial sectors.
