For the microbiologically critical pretreatment of pharmaceutical water (PW, HPW, WFI), Werner GmbH offers a unique process in cooperation with BIOPUREMAX based on ESR (Electrolytic Scale Reduction) and HOD (Hydro Optical De-Chlorination) as an alternative to conventional deionization.

This innovative ESR and HOD process from BIOPUREMAX can be combined with individual PW, HPW, and WFI systems and/or adapted to existing pharmaceutical water systems.

BIOPUREMAX is the ultimate system solution for pretreatment of pharmaceutical pure water systems: clean, simple, reliable, effective, and chemical-free.

The system is based on the integration of two technologies: ESR and HOD.

The Electrolytic Scale Reduction (ESR) is an elegant solution that dispenses with ion exchangers with their large surfaces and requires no chemicals or antiscalants.

An electric field splits water into OH- and H+ ions, generating a high pH at the cathode, which leads to precipitations of magnesium, calcium, silicate, as well as iron and other cations. This results in a reduction of the total salt load in the feed water of the PW system, and the precipitates are regularly flushed out of the reactor.

Through the subsequent Hydro Optical De-Chlorination (HOD), the chlorine formed in ESR is broken down, resulting in nearly germ-free feed water for the PW system.

The BIOPUREMAX technology has no moving parts, no regeneration requirements, and the construction from stainless steel 316L combined with regular thermal sanitization reliably prevents biofilm formation.
