Innovative air filter solutions presented exceptionally

"Perfect solutions for pure air. Safely."

With this motto and an extraordinary trade fair stand concept, Camfil Farr presented itself at this year's Achema from June 18 to 22, 2012, in Frankfurt. At the center of the exhibition grounds, the globally active air filter professionals showcased their innovations in a rolling test laboratory. "We deliberately chose to highlight our roadshow. The specially designed action truck here exemplifies the issue of fine dust pollution in the ambient air and our expertise in raising awareness through air filter solutions for dust-free environments," explains Lars Sandte, Marketing Director at Camfil KG. Furthermore, Camfil Farr demonstrated innovative air filtration solutions and concepts ranging from industrial high-performance dust removal to air filtration in cleanrooms. Additionally, information was provided about the recently revised EN 779:2012 and its implementation at Camfil.

All Clean: Cleanroom Applications

When it comes to protecting people and the environment from dust, toxic and radioactive substances, or dangerous microorganisms in biotechnological fields, safety laboratories, chemical processes, pharmaceutical, or nuclear industries, efficient air filter solutions and systems according to current standards are also in demand. For these various applications, Camfil Farr presented appropriate systems and solutions at ACHEMA, such as the high-security enclosure concept CamContain CS. This safety concept is customized to the respective environment. For example, a sliding insert with a central guide allows for the safe installation of filters without the risk of damage to filters or seals. Upon request, installed filters can then be monitored via scan tests according to DIN 1822. The safety enclosures CamContain CS are designed for use in safety laboratories of BSL 3+4 classes and take into account the standards of the World Health Organization (WHO) as well as the requirements of the European standard DIN EN 12128.

Implemented: New EN 779:2012 at Camfil Farr

What Camfil Farr had already envisioned in 2010 in the form of a proprietary ABC energy rating was recently adopted as the Eurovent standard in cooperation with renowned European manufacturers: By classifying energy efficiency, objective product comparisons based on the modified EN 779:2012 are simplified. In addition to categories A (= lowest energy consumption) to G (= highest energy consumption), uniform label information provides details about annual energy consumption as well as the initial and minimum efficiency of each filter. Manufacturers voluntarily certify this through Eurovent. Camfil Farr takes it a step further: from now on, a combination of energy class and minimum efficiency is included as an additional feature in the product name of its filters. At first glance, this clearly distinguishes Camfil air filters from those of other manufacturers.

On the Safe Side: Air Pollution Control & IAQ

The industrial APC high-performance dust collector and the APC filter cartridges DuraPLeat and HemiPleat showcased at the fair are suitable for nearly every process application. With this dust separation system, dust and fumes from production facilities can be easily removed. For example, when pharmaceutical dust occurs during tablet pressing and coating, the released dust can be filtered out of the ambient air using the Gold Series (GS) Camtain. The dust or ambient air is drawn in by a fan and routed through connected piping to the filter system. Here, the dust is filtered out, and the cleaned air is returned to the original application area. The integrated Bag-In/Bag-Out System (BIBO) in the dust collector prevents cross-contamination during filter changes and helps ensure the safe disposal of waste dust.
