From September 19 to 20, 2017, the Swiss Medtech Industry will gather in Lucerne. The second Swiss Medtech Expo will demonstrate in a practical way how new designs, materials, technologies, and processes lead to innovations in the medical industry.

At the Swiss Medtech Expo in Lucerne, developers and engineers from manufacturing companies and SMEs will have the opportunity to exchange ideas personally with leading suppliers and innovation enablers. The trade fair impressed at its first edition in 2015 with a good mix of exhibition, knowledge transfer, and networking. "We want to make the Swiss Medtech Expo again this year the place where the exchange of knowledge and ideas takes place for future, innovative projects," explains trade fair director Fabrizio Raffa.

Making a Sustainable Contribution

And that is exactly where the Swiss Medtech Expo starts, focusing on Medtech innovations. As Fabrizio Raffa says, the key to success lies there: "For Medtech companies to be successful today, they must be able to develop innovations quickly and reliably." With the Swiss Medtech Expo, the aim is to support developers, engineers, product managers, quality managers, buyers, or those responsible for regulatory issues in this challenge.

Innovations Become Visible

The medical technology trade fair demonstrates in a practical way how new technologies and applications lead to innovations in the Medtech industry. Six themes are at the center, each showing great potential for medical technology. These are: Additive Manufacturing, Plastics in Medical Technology, Innovative Surfaces, Carbon Composites, Smart Design & Engineering, and Industry 4.0. Each of these focus topics will be presented by a renowned competence partner, such as the Health Tech Cluster or ETH Zurich, who will bring their entire expertise to the Swiss Medtech Expo. In total, around 160 national and international exhibitors will showcase their expertise on these forward-looking topics.

Innovations Become Visible

And this happens with a strong connection to practical application: exhibitors will present a showcase. These are innovative application examples that the exhibitors have already implemented in the market. These showcases demonstrate what innovations can arise from the intelligent combination of new materials, technologies, and processes. "We want to inspire and stimulate our visitors for their own projects," explains Fabrizio Raffa about the concept.

Innovation Symposium: Presentations by Competence Partners

As the name suggests, the "Innovation Symposium" is also dedicated to innovative applications. The various competence partners will present their areas of expertise at the symposium and highlight the potential for medical technology. Industry visitors can expect exciting lectures from experts and learn details about showcases as well as their development processes and challenges.

These showcases can be viewed on-site at the Swiss Medtech Expo. At the same time, these innovations are already available on the Swiss Medtech Expo website. Thanks to various filter functions, visitors can find applications and technologies tailored to their needs online and finally schedule an appointment with the respective exhibitors for the trade fair. "We are convinced that this will bring the right people together and contribute to promoting innovation in the Medtech industry," says Fabrizio Raffa.
