Innexis announces further location acquisition in Austria

– INNEXIS plans to acquire a multi-user site at the Novartis plant in Kundl, including selected infrastructure facilities, infrastructure systems, and real estate-related services. As part of the transaction, 30 employees will transfer to INNEXIS.
– This strengthens the role of the internationally active corporate group headquartered in Marburg as one of the leading owners and operators of Pharma & Life Science Parks in Europe.
– As the new owner and operator, INNEXIS plans to further develop the site economically and to steer it towards a sustainable, climate-friendly orientation.

The INNEXIS Holding GmbH & Co. KG plans to take over the Life Science Campus in Kundl, Austria, from the internationally active biotechnology and pharmaceutical company Novartis.
Through this transaction, Novartis Austria can focus on its core business, particularly research, development, and manufacturing of innovative medicines.

“Acquiring a prospering and historically significant Pharma & Life Science Park like Kundl is a milestone in our corporate development. INNEXIS specializes in supporting pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies at our sites by taking over site management and providing them with specialized solutions in engineering and logistics – so they can focus on their core business.”

In Kundl, INNEXIS plans to take over approximately 264,000 m² of land with over 100 buildings, as well as infrastructure and services. The research and production facilities themselves will remain owned by Novartis. Roland Gander, Managing Director of the Kundl/Schaftenau Campus, explained the strategic decision: “We have concluded that transferring the management of the Kundl Life Science Campus to a professional industrial park operator can better maximize and further develop the economic potential of the site and facilitate the establishment of new companies.”

For the majority of the approximately 850 employees at the Kundl site, nothing will change due to the takeover, as Novartis will continue its core activities at the campus. It is planned that 30 employees from campus management will transfer to the INNEXIS Group with the same roles and responsibilities.

As the new owner and operator, INNEXIS plans to further develop the site. On one hand, by attracting additional companies, as production buildings, offices, and open spaces are available for marketing.

“On the other hand, it is part of our corporate philosophy to make the energy supply of our Life Science Parks sustainable and future-proof. Those who want to combine supply security, regulatory requirements, and decarbonization need resilient and innovative infrastructure – and we will also advance this in Kundl,” said Dr. Martin Egger.

The transaction is expected to take effect on January 1, 2027. The agreement is still subject to the fulfillment of usual closing conditions and the receipt of necessary regulatory approvals, including merger control clearance in Austria.
